Researchers receive more than $1 million
from federal agency
Two University of Waterloo researchers have received funding that totals
more than $1 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation and other
sources.Andrew Barker, a coordinator in UW's research office, said the
CFI money comes under the "New Opportunities" program to support
research by young faculty. It's matched in each case by money from the
Ontario Innovation Trust.
MATH CAMP: Western is hosting 24 of
Canada’s top Grade 9 and 10 math
Several UWO mathematics professors will be involved in the Canadian
National Math Camp, says camp director Tom Griffiths, a retired London
high school math teacher. This also marks the first time that Western
hosts the camp, previously held at the University of Waterloo. The students
are staying in residence at Huron College where the math camp sessions
will be held.

(Kingston, Ont.)-- IBM announced today a $1 million grant to an Eastern
Ontario research consortium to establish a high performance computing
facility at Queen's University.
