The Vaticinators.

Colonel Hammond awaited the return of his best team through the Stargate. They'd been gone two days now and he was eager to hear how negotiations with the Humlubs had gone.

They stepped through the gate, all looked tired and all were dressed in tight leather skins, fashioned into pants and vests. Hammond's eyes widened.

Lt. Simmons, up in the Control Room, caught his breath as he watched Captain Samantha Carter exit the 'Gate, her legs wrapped in tight tanned leather, her top covered by a brief patchwork leather vest that was laced together with leather thong. He blushed and looked down, aware that his arousal was evident under the table. Sam stood in the gate room and looked up at the General, standing just to the side of the blushing young officer.

"Sir, I've got some samples here I need clearance for," she turned and held up two silver canisters to him. He nodded then told Lt. Simmons to alert the lab that they had some work to do. Grateful for the distraction from the tall, lithe leather clad figure below him in the gate room, Simmons jumped to the phone, but not before he caught Sam's glance. His face burning a bright red now, he turned his back on the others in the room while he made the call.

Jack stood at the base of the ramp and looked up. He was wearing a similar pair of patched leather pants, his was more mottled with darker skin as well as pale ones. His vest was not laced shut and the leather thongs dangled from the top, looking like something out of the 70's.

Hammond had left the Control Room and was now entering the gate room.

"Colonel O'Neill. Do you mind explaining to me where your uniforms are?" he asked as he entered the room, looking over to Daniel and Teal'c, both dressed in identical tight leather outfits to Jack. Daniel's top was loosely strapped together while Teal'c top was open and gaping, too small for the immense body within it.

"We had to change, Sir," Jack said casually.

Daniel piped up, helpfully. "Our issued uniforms offended them, sir. They were hunters and they took pride in their clothing. They were not comfortable with us being in 'man made' fibers and requested..."

"More like insisted.." Jack interrupted as he and Daniel exchanged quick glances then the younger man rolled his eyes and looked back at Hammond.

"Requested that we change."

"This was yesterday, Sir, so I figured we were only going to be given permission to stay-" Jack continued.

"If we followed their ways." Daniel finished the sentence for him. Again the men exchanged quick glances.

"Permission to change before debrief, Sir?" Jack asked Hammond.

"I wish you could. They look so tight they must be uncomfortable," Hammond said. Jack moved around a little, the leather fitted to him like a second skin. Every muscle, every ripple in those strong legs could be seen beneath the surface.

"Actually, Sir, they are quite comfortable." He shrugged.

"Well, that's good, because you need to stay in them a while longer. We need to debrief immediately. I have to fly to Washington in a little under two hours."

"Washington, Sir?" Jack frowned.

Hammond pursed his lips 'until they were white. "I'll tell you about it when I get back, Colonel." Jack could tell that this was no joy ride Hammond was going on.

The group made their way to the debriefing room, using the stairs that past by the control room. Lt. Simmons turned in his chair in time to see Sam heading up the stairs behind him. He sighed. Woo Hoo! That leather was tight across her firm buttocks. He turned back to his work, trying to put out of his mind the image of Captain Samantha Carter's leather clad behind swinging as she climbed up the stairs.

So far... he was failing. But the smile on his face was worth it!

The team took up their usual positions at the table. Sam and Daniel were so close their elbows butted against each others. Jack lounged to the side of his chair, his elbow rested on the arm of his seat and his fingers tugged at his eyebrow while he awaited his turn to discuss the mission. Teal'c sat up straight, elbows lying on the table top, his hands clasped together in front of him.

"Okay people. Colonel, if you will..." Hammond indicated for the Colonel to start the debrief.

*****

Hammond stood after the 50 minute report, each team member basically saying the same thing, only from the viewpoint of their specialties.

Jack told him that the natives were kind of friendly, inviting them to join their village once they'd discovered them on the planet. He did not think they indicated a threat to Earth. They were not as superior in technology as he'd hoped before setting out, but they did have a few unusual techniques that he'd describe in fuller details in his report. He had offered them an Alliance against Apophis and they accepted it.

Sam told him that the fruit samples were being investigated now, but that on this world fruit was growing everywhere and she hoped that something in the fruit sample might give them a better understanding and some kind of element they could either culture for themselves or synthesize in the lab, that might mean they'd be able to grow fruit in arid deserts, providing some kind of alleviation for drought and hunger in remote places.

Daniel told him that they were a race that seemed to have been taken from earth along with the others by Ra. Most of them could speak English - amongst other languages, that they were a open race, willing to exchange information and any form of Technology that they had, in exchange for the alliance against their dreaded enemy, Apophis.

Teal'c told him that he had apparently visited that earth before, while he was First Prime. He did not recall actually being there but the villagers cowered from him because of their memories of Apophis' brutal attack. For his part in the attacks he had apologized to the villagers.

Hammond stood and dismissed the team, saying that he wanted Jack's report on his desk before he left for Washington in twenty minutes but that the others had until Monday to complete them. He bided them a good weekend and left to finalize his trip.

Jack watched the disappearing figure go then turned to the others then shrugged.

"What he doesn't know, wont hurt him, huh?" He said.

Slowly the four of them nodded then Jack tossed his pen onto the table and left the room without a glance at anyone. Sam turned to Daniel and gave the young man a wicked grin.

"So, you doing anything this weekend, or are you going to catch up on your sleep?"

Daniel shrugged, "I honestly don't know," he said as he pointed off after Jack, indicating that it all depended on him. She smiled as she held her crossed fingers up to him then turned and watched him go, admiring the back view as it disappeared through the door.

Teal'c looked across the room at her.

"Capt'n Carter..." he began. She circled the desk and held her fingers over his large soft lips.

"Shh, what happened to 'Samantha'?"

He nodded slightly and watched as she slipped back onto the table behind her. He looked her up and down then raised his brow.

"I thought you were merely influenced by the fruit on P3x56T4."

She shook her head. "Why? You telling me you're not interested anymore?" She asked softly.

Teal'c shook his head. "I cannot tell you that for I am, indeed, still very interested," he said. Sam smiled.

"Then how about you and I go back to my place and ... discuss... this?"

Teal'c reached down and grabbed her around the waist, lifting her effortlessly off the table and to her feet.

"I do not think O'Neill would approve of this," he said.

Sam raised her brow in amusement. "You telling me something happened out there between you two as well?"

"No, I am not. Nothing happened," he said. She ran her hand up the firm chest before her then tilted her face to look up at him.

"Then he doesn't matter." She shrugged.

A smile tugged at the round firm lips of the Jaffa and that increased Sam's grin.

"I'll just go and organize clearance for you to leave," she said, heading out of the room. Teal'c watched her go. She stopped at the door, then looked back and smiled, glad to see he was watching her, then she disappeared down the hall.

 *****

Jack sat in his office, toying with a rubber and as he read over his notes for his report. There was a soft knock on his door and he looked up to see Daniel standing in the hall. He waved him in and indicated for him to close the door.

"I just wondered," Daniel said as he eased his leather clad rump into the chair, "what is it you want us to put in our reports?" he kept his eyes down, staring at the floor.

Jack looked over the young man opposite him. Daniel's rounded shoulders betrayed his fine physique.

"Sit up straight, Daniel," Jack said, leaning back in his chair. Daniel immediately straightened up then looked at Jack. Jack eyes widened when he saw the peek of flesh through the straps, the chest growing wide with Daniel's deep inhale of breath as he rolled his shoulders back, ensuring a straighter back.

Jack inhaled deeply. "What do you think should go into the report?"

"I think we should.. err.. skip the last two days altogether-" Daniel said quietly. Jack frowned.

//Skip it as in not mention it in the report or skip it as in ignore it actually happened altogether? //

Jack was unaware his eyes were scanning up those strong bare arms, taking in the hairs on the forearms, the rounded biceps, the firm muscle of the shoulder - peeking out from under the leather vest. His eyes continued up the soft skinned neck, and Jack inhaled again as he started to recall exactly how soft that skin was on his neck.... Finally his eyes met with Daniel's who'd been witness to the slow scan of his own body.

"If that's what you want.." Jack said deeply, his voice a little huskier than he'd expected it would be. Daniel shrugged, his thumbs pressing against each other as he clenched his hands together.

"You tell me, Jack, you're the Colonel... this is your life..." He flung his hand out to indicate the report in front of his friend.

"Am I willing to reveal what happened at the risk of my career?" Jack said finally.

Daniel nodded. "Exactly. Only I need to know what it is you're going to say.. so that I can back it up..." he said, tilting his head to look at his friend.

Jack wanted to tell him how incredibly distracting he was in that tight leather outfit, but refrained. What had happened on that world was to be left on that world. They all agreed. Jack looked up and was glad to see Daniel distracted by the floor tiles. He could sneak another peek at that chest, soft and firm, oh-so bitable.... And oh-so tempting as it rose and sank gently inside that leather vest. He sensed Daniel's head move and looked up in time to met Daniel's stare.

"I haven't thought about it yet, Dann... Daniel. Why don't I do my report now and then copy it for you?"

The younger man nodded. "Okay. Will you be much longer? I'd kinda like to get home..."

"No. I'll be through in about ten minutes. Why don't you call by then?" Jack rose from his chair and held his hand out for Daniel in a gesture of showing him to the door. The scientist stood and stepped over to the door. Jack opened it and then he and Daniel stood either side of the door frame.

"By the time you've changed..." Jack said, controlling the urge to look again at the mound of crotch that he *knew* was there, "I'll be done. You can call in and get it from me.."

"Well, I'm heading to my office for a while. I'll change later-" Daniel shrugged.

Jack lifted a brow. "You're staying dressed like that?" He asked. Daniel looked down at the leather then at Jack's green fatigues that the man had already changed into.

"I'm comfortable.." He stated simply.

Jack nodded.

// Yeah, he looked comfortable. Comfortable enough to sit on! //

He stayed and watched Daniel head back to his office around the corner.  He, like Sam, enjoyed the back view. As Daniel turned to go down the next corridor, he glanced back and saw Jack watching him. He didn't stop and was soon in his office.

Shutting his door and leaning back on it, Daniel breathed heavily. What was he going to do? He wished he'd never been to that planet now. He couldn't get Jack out of his thoughts. Going to his office under the pretext that he wanted to know what was going to be in his report! How obvious! Daniel sighed. Obvious, or not, it let Daniel know one thing. Jack was back *at work*. What happened on the mission stayed there.

He groaned heavily as he stumbled over and slumped onto his stool, burying his face in his hands.

 *****

Taking a break from writing his seemingly endless report, Jack re read his words;

Team arrived at 1730 earth time. It was dark. In the time between the MALP's images and our arrival, the sun had set. Sam and I estimated that the world was running about 4 hours ahead of Earth time, give or take a few hours. Later we confirmed that they were running at 2.5 hours ahead of Earth time.

I instructed the team to set up base camp. Finding a clearing in the dense forest, Carter set up the tents and Jackson and Teal'c set off to find firewood. It wasn't cold, but we wanted it just in case the weather turned on us. Once settled the team relaxed for the night.

Jack stared at his handwriting as his mind recalled what couldn't be put in the report.....

Daniel had dismissed himself from the group and gone for a walk. Jack stayed staring at the fire. Sam looked at the Colonel.

"Sir, do you think it's wise that Daniel go off alone? We don't know what's out there?" she said. Jack snapped out of his dreamlike state and looked at her.

"Sorry Carter? What was that?"

"Daniel?"

Jack looked around then back at her. "What about him?"

"He's gone for a walk." She frowned. Jack sat up.

"What? We don't know what's out there," he said as he reached over for his gun. Sam rolled her eyes. She knew he hadn't been listening to her!

"Shall I go after him, sir?" She frowned, but Jack was already on his feet.

"Do you wish for me to accompany you, O'Neill?" Teal'c asked, also rising to his feet.

"No, it's fine.. You and Carter stay here. If I don't find him in 30 minutes, I'll be back," he set off through the dense shrubs to look for his wandering team member.

*****

Jack stalked through the bushes, his eyes growing accustomed to the dim moonlight seeping through the dense forest roof. He held his gun poised at the ready, just in case.

He heard the sound of water trickling and decided that it was just the sort of noise to draw his inquisitive friend over. He headed towards it.

In the moonlight, reflecting brightly off the water's surface, Jack saw Daniel squatted next to the water, his hand toying with the cold stream. Stepping up quietly behind him he stopped to watch the silent man, who looked up to the moon, his face lit by its soft glow. Jack inhaled as he saw the moonlight splash on Daniel's face, highlighting down his strong throat, gleaming dully off his hair.

"You just going to stand there?" Daniel asked in a quiet voice. Jack was surprised by the statement.

"You knew I was here?"

Daniel smiled as he turned toward him, then looked around, expecting to see the others.

"I'm alone," Jack said, squatting next to him, his gun facing away from him in his lap.

"I recognized your aftershave," Daniel told him candidly.

"My aftershave?" Jack frowned and Daniel smiled as he nodded.

"Yeah, I've... always .. liked it.. What's it called?" Daniel passed his hand idly through the stream again.

Jack shrugged. "I have no idea. I think it's one Sara bought me for my birthday this year.."

Daniel turned to him and just nodded, before looking back up at the three moons hanging in the dark sky above them, the soft pearly glow lit his face gently.

After a short while Daniel closed his eyes, his head still tilted back, his throat still arched to the light. Jack blinked as he continued to watch the younger man, not at all awkward about staring at his team mate. In fact, it seemed the most natural thing to do at the time.

"Isn't it peaceful here?" Daniel's voice was a deep, soft whisper, stirring Jack unusually. The Colonel coughed softly then shrugged as Daniel dropped his face and set his eyes onto him.

"Guess.. so.." he said just as quietly. Daniel gave a lop-sided smile as he looked at his friend.

"Feel like a dip in the water?" he asked.

"Negative. You know better than swimming in a body of water that Sam hasn't tested yet.." Jack continued to stare at Daniel.

//Everything seemed in slow motion, why was that?// Jack wondered.

"Well, I hope it's okay, I just drank some.." Daniel shrugged and looked down at his hand that swooshed the water around, the white moonlight breaking up then reforming on the water's surface. Jack stared down at the glistening arm then followed it up to look at Daniel, head tilted, looking back at him.

Jack wanted to yell at him about the water but it came out more of an exasperated sigh instead.

"Don't you know how dangerous it is to drink untested water? How many times do I need to tell you this Daniel?"

Daniel looked down, like a young school boy admonished by his favorite teacher. Jack bit his bottom lip gently, silently cursing himself.

"Well, I feel fine.." Daniel muttered.

"We have no idea what effect it might have on you though, Danny." Jack sighed, a little apologetically. Daniel shrugged.

"Well, I'm fine-" He stated again. Jack nodded then looked out across the water.

"We should head back, the other's are concerned where you are."

Daniel pointed to Jack's communication pack. "Tell them," he said.

Jack's hand gripped the black unit then he shrugged.

"Carter..."

"Yes sir?"

"I've found Daniel. He's fine. We'll be back later..."

"Oh? Okay sir.."

Jack looked at Daniel, who gave a small smile then looked back out across the water.

*****

Sam frowned.

"What appears to be the matter, Captain Carter?" Teal'c asked.

"Teal'c, will you please call me Sam?" She sighed softly. Teal'c nodded his head then gave a small smile.

"I will try," he said. She smiled.

"I'd like that better. Or even just Carter-" She looked over at his dark face then sighed softly, "but I think I'd prefer Sam," she said softly. He gave a slow nod.

"I shall try to remember that, Sam.." he tested the name and enjoyed seeing the smile that filled her face now.

"That's better!" She reached forward and grabbed the pot off the fire and poured them both a coffee.

"It's not as good as Daniel makes it-" she shrugged as she handed him the cup.

Teal'c looked down into the dark, hot drink and muttered, "I'm sure it will be better."

She frowned then smiled, her cheeks dimpling a little. "Thanks, Teal'c," she said. He gave a nod then took a sip. Ensuring she was not watching he turned his face quickly and spat it out, wiping his hand across his mouth.

Sam looked at him and he gave a little smile, and lifted the cup in the air as a salute to her.

*****

Daniel was now lying on the edge of the water, his hand still toying in the cool puddle, and Jack sat closer to him, his bare feet dallying in the cool water.

"So then, Teal'c decided to do this full forward roll and just about skittled the islanders-" Daniel laughed as he retold a story of the time he and Teal'c were separated from Jack and Sam on the last mission.

"That didn't make your report," Jack smiled, enjoying Daniel's animated retelling. Daniel looked up at him then shook his head, laughing softly.

"No, strange about that, huh?" He smiled then looked back at the hairy calves kicking idly at the water next to him. Sitting up quickly he pulled his laces undone and then yanked his boots off, then his socks and rolled up his pant legs too. Jack lent back on outstretched arms as he watched his team mate. Daniel now sat, hip against Jack's hip, his feet kicking at the water also. He turned and looked back at Jack, who was smiling.

"This is nice!" Daniel leant forward, his back hunched over as he rested his elbows onto his thighs. Jack, still leaning back, frowned.

"Sit up straight, Daniel.." he said. Immediately Daniel did as he was told then frowned as he turned back to Jack.

"Why?" he asked in bemusement. Jack shrugged.

"You looked all hunched over..." he said. Daniel frowned then shrugged as he placed his hands either side of his knees, and lent onto them, his feet splashing at the water gently. Jack studied the back of his friend's head.

*****

Sam was laughing loudly, her head thrown back and Teal'c was actually smiling. Not a small smile, not a hint of one, but a large, crinkle-the-face, type of smile as he watched her.

"So, anyway, then Jack looks at me and the General said.. it means she's a lot smarter than you, Colonel..." She looked down into her coffee cup then up at Teal'c. He was still smiling.

"You know, this is the worst coffee...." She pointed at her cup. Teal'c held his cup up and nodded.

"I know.." He took another large mouthful.

"Then why are you drinking it?" she laughed. He shrugged.

"I do not know.." He took another sip and laughed loudly. Sam jumped at the sound of his deep, throaty laugh.

"Did I scare you?" He smiled.

"I'm not used to hearing you laugh," she said quietly, staring at his soft, dark eyes.

"I am not used to laughing. But Jaffa's do laugh," he said, a little nonchalantly. Sam blushed slightly then tilted her face down.

"Of course you do, I'm .. sorry." She shrugged and absently took another mouthful before spitting it everywhere then turning and tossing the rest away. Teal'c followed her lead and tossed his out too.

"You do not need to apologize to me, Samantha," he said as he placed his cup beside the fire. Sam looked at him, a smile played across her lips. She really liked the way he said her full name.

"I has been so long since I have felt the urge to laugh out loud. You have reached a part of me tonight that I have long forgotten existed," he said as he crouched nearer to the fire, tending to it with a long twig. Sam looked intently at him and he slowly lifted his face to look at her. "It is a place that only Drey'ak has reached before..." he said deeply.

She smiled congenially. "It's good to laugh."

He nodded, but it still seemed to Sam that he felt it was a show of weakness. She looked around then back at Teal'c.

"I wonder where the others are?" She sighed as she watched sparks of fire lift into the dark sky. Teal'c watched her then diverted his eyes quickly as she looked at him.

"They are together. I am sure they will be fine," he said as he tended the fire. Sam nodded then rubbed the tops of her arms.

"I might call it a night." She yawned on cue. Teal'c nodded.

"I shall await O'Neill's return," he said. Sam smiled and patted his shoulder as she stood. Teal'c looked at the place she had just touched then up at her, stretching next to him.

"Night, Teal'c." She smiled.

"Good night, Samantha," he said softly as he watched her disappear into her tent.
