Dreams to Dream: Part 5
By: Cowgirl
"What?!" I asked frantically.
She laughed. "Just kidding. How about that ship that rocks and forth?"
I nodded. "Okay"
Blink eventually got sick of listening to Race, Spot, and Alahna while we were walking to the next ride so he walked back to Jack and I. "Hey, do you know what dis ship is?" He asked curiously.
"Ask her. She seems to know a lot about dis place." Jack said as he pointed to me.
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah. It's that big ship thing over there. It rocks back and fourth and.... well, I don't know how to explain it."
He nodded. "Do ya come heya a lot?"
"I don't know. I come here during the summer but that's about it." I pointed to the ship as we turned a corner. "That's the next ride." We walked up to the gate and got on the ride. After the ride was over we split up into groups of three. Alahna, Spot, and Race went to the log ride, and Jack, Blink, and I went to one of the other water rides. After we had gone on about ten or eleven rides Blink spotted a girl from my school and abandoned Jack and I.
He smiled. "So, what now?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. What do you think?"
He looked around and pointed behind me. "What's dat?"
I looked and saw that he was pointing to the place that made antique pictures. I smiled. "That's a place where they dress you up in clothes from the 1890's and then they take pictures of you with a camera kinda like Denton's."
He nodded. "So, ya wanna do dat?"
I laughed. "Sure, why not?"
We walked into the little shop and the photographer gave us some clothes for the picture. Jack and I each got a picture and then we walked over to another section of the park to get something to drink.
We sat down at the table with our drinks. Jack looked around. "So uh, what do we do next?"
I shrugged. "Well, we only have thirty minutes left and there aren't very many rides we haven't gone on. We haven't been on the bumper cars, the ferris wheel, or that thing over there."
"Okay. Why don't we go on dat thing first, den dose bumper cars, and den da ferris wheel. Ya ready ta go?"
"Yeah, I'm ready." We put our cups in the trash can and walked to the next ride.
We got onto the ride and waited for it to start. After it was over we went to the bumper cars. I looked at Jack. "I get the blue one."
He laughed. "Not if I get dere foist!"
The guy that operated the ride opened the gates and Jack and I ran for the blue car. I got there a split second before Jack so he took the green car. The cars started moving and I looked around for Jack. All of a sudden I was bumped from behind. I turned around and saw Jack sitting in his car laughing. "You're gonna get it now!" I yelled.
Jack smiled. "Try an' catch me."
I swung the car around and went after him. I stared at him for a minute and then got a plan. He was trying to get away from me by going to the right so I went to the left. He came around the corner and was looking over his shoulder to see where I was. "Jack, in front of ya!" I heard someone yell from outside the ride. I looked over and saw Spot and Alahna standing outside the gate. Jack saw me and turned his car but I still hit him in the side. He smiled. "Ya got lucky."
I rolled my eyes. "Luck has nothing to do with it. You wouldn't have even seen me if it weren't for Spot."
Jack shook his head. "Spot had nothin' ta do with it. I let ya hit me."
We started laughing and chasing each other again. After the ride was over we stopped to talk to Alahna and Spot. "Hey Jacky-boy, ya gonna let a goil beat ya like dat?" Spot asked.
Jack shrugged. "Well, I thought dat since she was a goil an' everythin', I should let 'er win, ya know?"
I hit him. "Yeah right! I could beat you on the bumper cars with my hands tied behind my back!"
Alahna laughed. "Sandy, you can't even turn the wheel with your hands tied behind your back."
I shrugged. "That doesn't mean anything."
"Uh-huh. Sure. Hey, where's Blink?" She asked suspiciously.
Jack smiled. "Blink? He ran off with some goil. Where's Race?"
Spot shrugged. "He found a place he liked and stayed dere."
Alahna smiled. "Yeah. It't one of those things where you try and hit the target with the water gun and it moves the horses and you try and get your horse to win. Hey, where are you guys going to go next? Maybe we can team up, we don't have much time left anyway."
I pointed up. "Ferris wheel. It's the only ride we haven't been on."
"Okay, let's go." She said and started walking towards the ride.
She and Spot got on first and then Jack and I. After all the people were on the operator started the ride. I looked around nervously and held onto the bar. Jack turned around to look behind me and started to rock the thing a little.
I tightened my grip. "Please don't do that." I said quietly.
He turned around and it started to rock again. "Do what?"
"Rock the thing." I said tensely.
He stared at me. "Why?"
"Because your not supposed to. You see that wire right there? That is the only thing holdin gus up. I don't feel like being splattered all over the sidewalk when it breaks."
He laughed and started rocking it on purpose. I grabbed the bar and held on as tight as I could. He stared at me. "You look scared. Why? Dey have dis ride on Coney Island and it isn't even scary in 1899."
I looked down and sat back. "Because I'm scared of heights."
He smiled slyly. "Ya are? Maybe this'll help." He said as he leaned over and kissed me. He pulled back and smiled at me and I stared at him in shock. "Ya okay?" He asked.
I nodded. "Uh-huh. Yeah. Fine." I looked forward and blushed. "Um... Spot and Alahna saw that."
We stopped at the very top of the ride. Jack looked in front of us. "Yeah, day probably did. But day aren't paying any attention ta us now." He said as he pointed to them. I looked and saw that they were kissing.
Jack leaned over and kissed me again. When we came up for air I smiled. "Why did you do that?" I asked as we got close to the bottom.
He pushed his hair back and smiled. "Cause day couldn't spy on us dat time."
