The Beauty and the Beast Conspiracy
I discovered - much to my happiness- that the best thing to do when one has one's wisdom teeth removed is to watch old movies. And, in watching one of my most beloved movies of my youth, I happened upon several things very familiar...
1) The basic storyline: A girl runs from her hometown in search of love and adventure. She, however, is put off by the guy she finds: A guy deeply disguised.
Her old boyfriend refuses to give her up, and comes hunting after her.
She sees something beneath the surface of this guy, and chooses him over her old boyfriend, much to the happiness of the story's end.
2) The good guy has blonde hair and blue eyes. The bad guy has black hair and blue eyes. They both wear their hair in ponytails.
3) The bad guy has a deep, sexy voice.
4) The bad guy and main girl are Frenchmen.
5) The main symbol for the show is a red flower with a twisty stem, a symbol and a main basis to the good guy's disguise.
6) In "Beauty and the Beast", one of the townspeople and one of Gaston's cronies looks like Andrew from the A&E movie. I swear!
7) Funny quote: "If the master finds out about this, it will be our necks!" ~Cogsworth
8) Funny quote: "We'll lay seige to the castle and bring back his head!" ~Gaston
9) During the famous "Beauty and the Beast" song part of the movie, the good guy is wearing an expertly tied cravat. Notice, Gaston does not wear one in the course of the movie...
10) In both, the bad guy is not actually shown to be killed. (Okay, okay. Gaston falls off the castle into the moat. Does it show him dying? How do you know he wasn't an excellent swimmer?)
11) During the final battle scene, the beast lets out this deep growl that sounds exactly like Doug Sills' Rrrrrr thing!!!
12) The final song duet thingie is sung by Peabo Bryson and Celine Dion. "You Are My Home" was originally recorded by Peabo Bryson and Linda Eder (Who sounds remarkably like Celine Dion, especially in that song!)
13) Okay, this has nothing to do with SP, but does anyone else think Mrs. Potts and Maurice would make a cute couple?!?
