DonationsJim was diagnosed with cancer and required radiation treatment. He did not have enough sick days accumulated and had to quit his job. Mary cleaned houses three times a week to help with household expenses; however, pregnant with their second child she developed complications with her pregnancy from stress and was on bed rest. With no income, Mary and Jim could no longer afford their rent and were being evicted from their apartment of six years. Mary and Jim, along with their four year old son, Justin, came to the London Housing Registry for help. The Registry helped Mary and Jim find alternative permanent housing and referred them to other community organizations for help with medical costs and basic living expenses, as well as referred them to public assistance for financial aide and future employment opportunities. Could you imagine what it feels like to be homeless? Without an address, a person cannot apply for a job, collect mail, have a phone or keep warm on a cold night. A homeless person loses his or her identity and becomes invisible to the citizens of London. Finding safe affordable housing in London is extremely difficult for low-income earners, those receiving financial assistance, and homeless individuals. A major obstacle is the wage needed to afford a place to call home. The London Housing Registry lists vacant units with local property management companies and small landlords and matches families and individuals based on their needs. With your help, the London Housing Registry will be there for people like Jim and Mary and other families when they need it. Please give generously to help our fund raising campaign. Please mail donations to the address listed below or contact Shelley Milos, Executive Director. Shelley
