Summary: Karen, in the process of divorcing her husband, is shocked to learn that Will is going to be acting as Stan's lawyer, not hers. So she hires Jason Towne, a young lawyer fresh out of school, with a backpack and pet lizard to boot. Will is threatened by Jason, who's nickname is "Soupy" ("Because I like soup."), and soon finds himself tutoring the inept lawyer in what he needs to win Karen's case.

Meanwhile, Grace hires Jack to temporarily replace Karen. At first, she is impressed by his ability to land her a hot client, Mac, whom he also happens to be dating. However, when he and Mac break up, Jack insists that Grace no longer work with Mac. Grace reluctantly agrees, but Mac turns her back with the lure of a large home he wants completely redone. Just as the two are planning a secret series of meetings, Jack arrives and is shocked to find Mac and Grace together. Grace again tells Mac she can't work with him, but changes her tune when she finds Jack and Mac secretly hanging out together.

Will informs Karen that her lawyer isn't going to help her win her case, as he hardly knows what he's doing. Karen agrees and reluctantly starts to fire Jason. It's then that Jason does a complete turn-about, revealing that he is in fact a highly competent lawyer who won a lawsuit for Debbie Harry and has no lizard to speak of. His whole act was just put on to gain valuble information from Will.

The next day at Will's office, Jason reveals his true self to Will. Just when Will is feeling very foolish (and a little intimidated), Karen arrives. Despite being very impressed by Jason's tactics (and a little turned on), Karen feels bad for Will and fires Jason. But Will steps in and encourages Karen to do whatever she needs to do to win her case.

The war is on. To be continued in "23".
