Airmont (AP) -- In an effort to maintain enthusiasm
for reading, Jonathan Leslie has constructed for his children, Brian and Alex, a tree house modeled after the tree house in the children's book series, "The Magic Treehouse".
In the book, the brother and sister duo of Jack and Annie find, in the tallest tree of the forest, a magic treehouse capable of time travel. After several pleases, Mr. J. Leslie was under legal contract for the construction. Several modifications to the original design spec had to be made to conform with MOSHA (Moms Overview of Safety and Hazzards All-knowing) standards. "The tallest tree in the forest" was re-designed to a nominal height of six feet. All time travel equipment was to be designed and implemented by the new owners of Brian and Alex.
The original rope ladder was installed, however an additional ladder and secret door were also added. Future plans also include a spiral staircase/monkey bars, tire swing, and possibly a cable run.
While not mentioned in the book, a three way Walkie-Talkie system was also installed for communication to our Time traveling heros for various instructions from the Master Librarian. While this reporter was at the scene, it was observed how the Master Librarian of the Magic Treehouse used the communication system to inform our heros of the impending Lunch Time occuring in five minutes.
It was not clear why Brian and Alex objected to the 5 minute time frame. They were reminded by the contruction team that they were, in fact, in a time machine and should feel to return to the time 5 minutes before lunch after lunch and get more time out of it.
