Barry's Feline Leukemia Page

As soon as my mom rescued me she took me to the vet to be checked out.  To our dismay, I tested positive for feline leukemia.  No one really knows how I got infected but it probably was when I was homeless and living in a field.  During that time, I was exposed to infections from any and all kitties I met.  Now I am an indoor kitty and for a long time I was an "only kitty."   I am very contagious.  But now I have a new sister who is FeLV+ just like me.  It is a big commitment taking care of feline leukemia kitties--but mom says it is worthwhile.  Mom has to be extra observant and watch out for any changes in our condition.   I have occasional problems with gingivitis and my mom keeps a close eye on my gums.   A few months ago, I got really sick and Mom almost lost me.  It was a few days after we brought my new sister Sophie home to live with us (she is FeLV+ too).  We don't know if Sophie brought a bug home with her or if the stress of meeting a new kitty triggered symptoms in me, but I am much better now.  I am getting immuno-regulin injections and everyday I take roferon.  So far, so good.  Mom thinks I seem better than ever but I will have to get my blood checked again to really see how much I am improving. My mom and my vet take extra special care of us. URGENT!!!  URGENT!!!  URGENT!!! Mother and kitten, both believed to be positive for feline leukemia, in need of a loving home!! The mother is believed to be about two years old.  She is a beautiful light grey tabby with green eyes.  She is good-natured and is a good mother.  She appears to be very healthy. Her female kitten appears to be about 6 months old.  She has light gray tabby markings on the back and tail with dashes of orange tabby markings, white legs and tummy.  She has beautiful gold eyes and soft fur.   She also appears very healthy. If you can help find a home for these beautiful cats, please e-mail me or e-mail their foster mom who is trying to find them a home.
