Born a peasant, 400 years ago, (although this is
still in question, unlike with every other vampire Anita can't tell his age and Jean-Claude's not telling, he could
possibly be up to 500 years old) Jean-Claude's parents sold him to an aritocrate, who thought he was fair of face,
to be her only son's companion. Jean-Claude and the boy did everything together be it learning, riding, sword play,
and even dancing. But when the son was bad and Jean-Claude took his whippings, literally. He bears those scars to
this day.
When he was about thirty his exceptional beauty drew the
vampire that made him, she was of Belle Morte's, Beautiful Death, line. When he was a young vampire he was catamite,
which is a weaker vampire who is used and then passed on from one master vampire to another master vampire. As
he gained more power he escaped and lived and traveled on his own. That is until he met Asher
and Julianna. We don't know much about the time after he parted ways with Asher and his arrival in St. Louis.
When Anita first meets Jean-Claude he was probably the
fifth most powerful vampire in St. Louis. When the other vampires are killed and Anita kills Nikolaos, Jean-Claude
became the Master of the City. With the position he gains additional powers and is now the most powerful man,
dead or alive, in St. Louis.
In order to survive among much more powerful vampires,
Jean-Claude learned to mask many of his powers. With his position as Master of the City, the defeat of Mr. Oliver,
the Earthmover and the triumvirate's successful meeting with the Council, Jean-Claude has been flexing his powers.
Anita knows that Jean-Claude is powerful but when she learns that he has the ability to siphon sexual energy and
use it as vampiric energy (in older times he would have been known as an incubus), she's both terrified and angered.
She feels that Jean-Claude has pushed all along for the sexual relationships between the trio, knowing that he would
gain much more power. On the flip side, it does explain why he owns and runs the strip club, Guilty Pleasures and
is just plain one very sexy guy.
His animal to call is the wolf/were-wolf. That is why he
can form the triumvirate with Richard and Anita.
At this point he has marked both Anita and Richard three
times. Although I think he understands why Anita refuses the finale mark, he won't stop trying to give it to her and
in turn Richard. He knows that the power that they would gain would be unlimited and he won't ever give up that chance.
