Vampire Council
The council is the governing body of all vampires. The number one law among vampires is "Thou shalt not draw attention to yourself." There are always 7 members and they rule from France. When members of the council come to town, their presence can cause unprotected vampires to experience extra powers. Also if the council members are not feeding but are ciphering energy, the weaker and younger vampires will have a more voracious appetite and an increased lack of control.
Padma, Master of Beasts: Council member with the ability to call all animals/lycanthropes. He can force them to change against their will. Anita forces him to chose between his life and his son, Fernando and he chooses himself. He's part a triumvirate with Capt. Thomas Carswell, a former British soldier and Gideon, a weretiger who's spent to long in animal form. Neither like Padma and try and help Anita.
The Traveler: He's a council member. He doesn't seem to have a body but uses his powers to inhabit another vampire. The possessed vampire is still in the body, their personality is just pushed aside. At one time Jean-Claude was used as a host. Balthasar's his human servant.
Morte d'Amour, Lover of Death: It is from her line that the ability to rot and reform originate. She at one time populated the world with vampires but has since retired and in rarely seen by anyone.
Belle Morte, Beautiful Death: Jean-Claude, Asher and Damian are from her line. They and the other vampires from her line have an exceptional beauty. Her blood heightens their existing looks and on rare occasion allows certain vampires the ability to feed on sexual energy. Making them a sort of incubus. We haven't meet her at present.
Queen of Nightmares: She is the head of the council, she's in charge of who populates the world. We haven't seen her yet either.
The Dragon: We don't no anything about this council member except that he used to populate the world and that has since retired to council chambers.
Vampire Marks
There are four stages involved in the process to making a human servant. A human servant will live as long as the vampire does. So the human servant not only provides lifelong companionship but can also be a great source of power for the vampire. Their bond allows them to share all powers If a vampire forces the marks to make a human servant, it can be very painful, kind of like rape. A person can be only one vampires human servant and their bond's so strong that in most cases if one is killed the other dies. For that same reason human servants are sacred, no vampire can harm another's servant.
The first mark: This mark gives the human the ability to heal faster, they become tougher, harder to kill. They also can meet vampires in the eyes without being caught. For the vampire, it gives them the beginning of their psychic connection.
The second mark: With this mark the vampire can gain nourishment through the servant. The vampire also has limited telepathic powers with the servant, mostly through dreams. For the servant there isn't much more gained.
The third mark: This mark is given when the vampire takes blood from the servant. The vampire now has direct telepathic communication with the servant. The servant gains more strength, stamina, resistance to injury, immunity to disease and poison. They gain almost all powers without having to give up their humanity.
The fourth mark: For this mark the human servant takes blood from the vampire. Part of the ceremony, "Blood of my blood, flesh of my flesh, two minds with but one body, two souls wedded as one." The servant and the vampire are now bonded for life.
