Utterly Charming

Ten years ago as a struggling attorney, Nora Barr accepted work from the strangest pair of clients she'd ever run across: a tall handsome stranger calling himself Aethelstan Blackstone and his sidekick, Sancho Panza, who wanted Nora to hide a comatose woman named Emma (contained in a glass case) for 10 years. The coma, actually the result of a spell cast 1000 years ago by a witch named Ealhswith. The spell was triggered by a kiss from Blackstone. Since then, Blackstone and Ealhswith have been battling for custody of Emma's body. To break the curse, Emma must stay out of Ealhswith's custody for 10 years. The duo asks Nora to hide Emma, until she is awakened and Blackstone will get his true love back. Even with all she saw, Nora had trouble believing any of it is real, but goes through with her side of the bargain. Now 10 years later, Emma is set free and Nora has to figure out what to do with a young girl born in the Dark Ages. Then there's her impossible attraction to a wizard long ago promised to another. And don't forget about the wrath of one very angry witch.

Emma Lost can still remeber the day she woke up in the back of a VW van after her famous thousand years' snooze - the one that inspired the Sleeping Beauty myth. Emma knows it's no fairy tale - she's the real Sleeping Beauty, trying to hide her magical powers and swearing off kissing strange men for the rest of her life. Of course, most men follow her around like lovesick puppies... except for Michael Found, her mind-numbingly gorgeaus boss. It seems that the rational, logical Mr. Found doesn't believe her theories about such things as Fates and faires and magic, and he's determined to expose her as a fraud. But Emma knows for sure that magic truly does exsist, and she's going to give Michael a lesson he''ll never forget - even if it means breaking her vow of not kissing men. Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Andrew Vari, and I'm short (very short), and not exactly handsome. Actually, that's only partly true. My real name is Darius, and if you caught a glimpse of my true form, you might just swoon. It was my arrogance about my looks and magical powers that got me into this fix. I'm living under a curse the Fates placed upon me two millennia ago. My penance is unite a thousand pairs of soulmates - however long it takes. Here's where things get complicated: You see, I just met the most amazing woman. Her name is Ariel Summers, and she's smart, beautiful, athletic... and very mortal. I should know - I saved her life. but the whole thing happened when I was looking way easier on the eyes. I thought she'd never track me down once I was back in my Andrew Vari "disguise," but she did, and now - like it or not - she's in my life. The problem is, I do like it - and it looks as if she's falling for me, too... warts and all. I'm so close to completing my mission - but finding a "true love" for Qriel is my last assignment, this job may never get done.

My name's Vivian Kinneally, and Ican't believe this is happening to me. I just moved here to Portalnd, Oregon, to take over a business left to me by my favorite aunt - nothing earth-shattering... or so you'd think, right? I've always been a little bit psychic - but my powers never hinted at what was to caome when I let three gorgeous, terrified women into my home at 6:45 this morning. As The Fates woul have it (did I mention these supermodel lookalikes are The Fates?) my life was about to change forever. It seems they're temporarily powerless, and need my help to escape a mysterious enemy. Knowing I can't do it alone, they've sent me in search of one Dexter Grant. And now that I've found him... wow. We're talking Superman, here - hold the tights, cape, and big red "S". I've always been an independent kind of gal, but something about this guy makes me want to let him fly me to Paris - and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't need a plane to do it.
