In Search of Wisdom©

Isganan once sought out to learn from Wisdom. He sought long and wide yet failed in finding the esteemed creature.

Then he learned that Wisdom often visited the old sage of the village, Agorang. So Isganan went to the house of Agorang and on the way he met some persons.

“Indeed, many seek the help of Agorang.”

So he went happily to the hut of the old man. When he finally faced the sage, he told the latter his purpose.

“Wisdom left only a while ago. You must have met him on the road.” Agorang said.

“I only met three persons.” The young man answered back. “One man was a bore. He hardly said a word when we met. I did not stay with him long. It’s eerie being with him.

“The other was an uncouth person who kept on pointing out my weaknesses. I did not talk with him long. He was disgusting.

“The third was a delight. He was well dressed and well mannered. We talked about a lot of things in the short meeting we had. And…”

“Then you’d met Wisdom.”  Agorang interjected.

“Which one?”

“All of them!” Agorang answered. “You see Wisdom has three faces. The first one you meet is Silence. People don’t learn much from him since they are impatient. If only people would stay with Silence a little longer, they would gain much.”

“But how could the second person I met be Wisdom he was uncouth?” Isganan asked, obviously confused.

“Well he is Truth. People dislike Truth for showing them what they rather ignore. Just like you, people shun away from Wisdom when he come as Truth.”

“How about the third one?”

“Since you are delighted with him, I don’t have to explain.” Agorang replied. “He is Parable.”
