Stevie Winwood It was a complete fluke the night I got to play with Stevie. I was playing a popular house gig that I had been doing for years and Stevie had been playing some huge stadium gig downtown. I guess he was just stopping in for a beer on his way back to the hotel. We got him and Jim Capaldi up to do a few tunes. ...Gimmie Some Lovin... and a couple of others. This was a real thrill for me because when I first started playing I had this 45 of ...Gimmie Some Lovin... and on the flip side is a tune called ...Stevies Blues... This is THE tune that made me want to play blues. I had heard that it might have been Clapton playing on it. I asked Spencer Davis who played on it and he said it was either himself or Stevie....No way it was Spencer so now I knew for sure... This was the first time I had heard that Marshally kind of sound and it blew me away. I think this would predate Claptons playing with Mayall by a few years. Even now when I listen to that 45 it moves me.
