Jamming with Willie was very different than getting up with Muddy. Willie was very approachable. He was a kind man who seemed to have respect for everyone.
I went to see him at yet another club on Yonge Street in Toronto. I talked to him between sets as did a number of other players. Willie got us up one at a time and kind of showcased us individually. He didnt just run off stage when you got up. He would ask you what you wanted to play and introduce you by name. He would stay up and play with you and make you feel like an equal.
I dont remember what I played but I felt 10 feet tall when I left. |
