THE
NIGHT PIECE, TO JULIA Her eyes
the glow-worm lend thee,
The shooting stars attend thee;
And the elves also,
Whose little eyes glow
Like the sparks of fire, befriend thee.
No Will-o'-th'-Wisp mis-light thee,
Nor snake or slow-worm bite thee;
But on, on thy way,
Not making a stay,
Since ghost there's none to affright thee.
Let not the dark thee cumber;
What though the moon does slumber?
The stars of the night
Will lend thee their light,
Like tapers clear without number.
Then Julia let me woo thee,
Thus, thus to come unto me;
And when I shall meet
Thy silv'ry feet,
My soul I'll pour into thee.

EMERALD
EYES
Every night I wake
To find you waiting here for me,
Moon and candlelight reflected in your
Emerald eyes.
Every night I know you'll be here
To help me live through all my pain,
Love and loyalty shining brightly in your
Emerald eyes.
Every night I depend on you
To protect me and defend me,
Courage and devotion burning fiercely in your
Emerald eyes.
Every night I choose
To pretend I haven't hurt you,
Pain and sadness living deeply in your
Emerald eyes.
Every night I try
To push away my love and need for you,
Still I find my soul drowning gladly in your
Emerald eyes.
Every night I pray
To live by day that I may say "I love
you,"
And to watch the sunlight sparkling in your
Emerald eyes. NANCYBE

For
Julia From Marcos Julia's
Lament And Hope
Darkness
fell on that night
I waited for you with bated breath, wondering?
Would you kill me?
Rip the blood from my veins and stop my heart.
Or spare my life and give me hope.
For your love.
I wonder when did it happen?
One unguarded moment, something obscured from any
outside feeling.
A heart was touched and forever changed.
Now, I'm your victim.
My heart is aflame and I desire only you.
Each night, I wait with breath still bated.
Hoping for you, hoping for you.
I wonder when did it happen?
I fell in love with you.

BRANSON October 3, 1998

THE HEART OF MY
LOVE
(a poem)With eyes that rise like the
dawn gentle,like a fawn. "Julia"
penetrating as the thorn of the rose
to cut and bleed my affection.
I see you in my waking and also
at my rest. "Julia"
The silhouette of my consciousness
the ebb and tide of my soul. "Julia"
in lips, let us do as hands do
while in pleasant prayer. "Julia"
To touch the inner branches of your
caress. "Julia"
To die in your embrace. "Julia"
As our exchange is met and given
each to the other in gleeful agony.
To impale myself on love's sweet
sword and shed my love
of you. "Julia"
I ever will be part of you, as
you are part of me. "Julia"
Come take me here and I entwine
our bodies to rejoice. "Julia"
With laughing songs and shimmering
skin, Julia my beloved. "Julia"
The essence of my dreams fulfilled
to fate's own will, be sealed.
in the heart of my love. "Julia"
beloved Barnabas.

LIKE A
CANDLE Like a
candle,
Straight and slim,
Standing in the window of the Old House,
Shining out into the darkness,
Waiting to welcome home the wand'ring
one,
Waiting
Dressed
in cream satin,
Long and graceful,
Hair of fire,
Eyes of endless depths filled with flame,
The soul of the candle burning in a
woman,
Waiting
The
wanderer looks to the Old House window,
Seeing the candle burning from afar,
Brighter than any candle had burned there
for him before,
Pure love parting the darkness,
Guiding him home
Waiting
In
you I have found my way,
You are my light,
You are my safe place,
My home and my refuge,
Stay with me,
Wait no more.
