At tonights meeting we discussed our upcoming Japan Thinking Day project again. We discussed the countries location and looked at some maps. Then we made origami, Ms. Sandy had brought some origami paper and instructions.

First we all tried to make a dog, but didn't do a very good job. It was very difficult to follow all the intricate folds. It was fun trying though.

Then we decided to learn to make a paper airplane. Some of us had never made one before. After we made our planes, Ms. Sandy allowed us to run around and fly them. That was the most fun of all. We decided to have a distance contest with our planes. We lined up against the wall, and took turns flying our planes, two at a time. It was funny because some of the planes came right back to land at the scouts feet. Check out our pics below of our origami plane contest. There are also some links to origami sites, too.

When our meeting was almost over, several scouts from different troops came in to pose for a photograph for the newspaper. They had on scouting uniforms from the past, they ranged from brownies to seniors. There was even one lady wearing a leaders uniform from the 70s. It was funky green and yellow polyester. In fact, the polyester pants are in style today. They had borrowed the uniforms from the council office. It was interesting to see some of the uniforms from the past.
