Thinking Day February 26th, 2000
On Saturday, February 26, 2000 our Troop met other troops from our Service Unit 046 and held our Thinking Day Celebration.
We met at the church at about 2:30 to 3 pm. The ceremony was to start at 3 pm, but some girls came in early to help make maracas for the Brownies. They are going to work on a Music Try-it, and will use the maracas as rythym instruments. As people starting filling the event hall, everyone wandered around checking out the various booths we had put up for Thinking Day. There were booths representing Brazil from Troop 1356, Spain from Troop 1306, Japan from our Troop 2616, Switzerland from Troop 2606, and the United Kingdom, presented by Troop 1851. Troop 841 was responsible for the flag ceremony, after which there was a ceremony to award the World Association Pins. Three girls from our troop got the pin today. After the ceremony we sang lots of girl scout songs, in our International Sing Along. We sang some of the songs in rounds, and actually did a pretty good job. Sometimes it is hard to keep up your part of a song you are just learning. We learned 5 ot 6 new songs. The Brownie troop working on their Try-It badge got their rythym instruments, and kept time with some of our songs. The Brownies did a pretty good job, too.
After the songs, Troop 841 again handled the flag ceremony, ending our Thinking Day 2000 assemby. After we were dismissed, we wandered around the hall looking at the booths again. Several of the booths had brought food samples, and we liked trying the different types of snacks.
