DIAGRAM OF THREE LEADERSHIP STYLES
The diagrams that appear below illustrate three styles of local church government.
The "one man ministry" style is often congregational government with the pastor taking the authorative leadership role. However, not all local churches that have pastors could be called one man ministries because they also have adaquate oversights.
The "oligarchy" is similar to the congregational style. However, in oligarchy, a committee (the elders) are in charge and there is no formal congregational input to their leadership.
The "theocracy" style is believed to be the most Biblical. This style recognizes the Lord Jesus Christ is the head of the church. The elders lead through modeling and serving the congregation. The congregation has a formal role as a check and balance.
