An
exception among the football players in Brazil, Kaka comes from the
upper middle class, has finished high school and does not absolutely
need football to live. He's very religious, but not with proselytism. He
almost lost his football career because an accident in the swimming pool
that caused him to be paralyzed, but fortunately he recovered soon. With
his cute face and humble attitude, Kaka got a lot of female fans who
called themselves 'Kakazetes'. Although he got an average of 20 daily
letters mostly from women, he still tries to answer all. “Fans make
all kinds of passes at me, and a girl even asked me for my underwear. I
was embarrassed and acted like I didn’t hear it. But usually I try to
ask their names, look them in the eye trying to bridge that distance
between idol and fan.” He called Kaka because when his younger brother
was a baby he couldn't pronounce Ricardo and called him Kaka. Other
AC Milan players call him Ricky because there is already another Kaka in
the team, Kaladze, whose first name is Kakhaber for short Kaka.

After representing Brazil at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship, Kaka
made his international debut against Bolivia before playing for his
country at the FIFA World Cup. Although Scolari often didn't set him on
the teams, Kaka won his first World Cup in the age of 20. Since then
he starred in the Brazilian U23 side that lost the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup
final to Mexico. And with his first kick of the game, Kaka scored Brazil's
winning goal in their opening 2006 World Cup qualifier against Colombia.
Club
Kaka is a product of the Brazilian giants São Paulo FC, for whom he
played 56 league games in three seasons, scoring 22 goals. With his São
Paulo contract due to expire in 2004, Kaka completed an €8.5m move to
European champions Milan in June 2003, after months of speculation. He
signed a four-year contract. In Milan, he became productive goal scorer
and has demonstrated magnificent comprehension with Shevchenko. He
contributed a lot of winning goals for Milan in European Super Cup
2003 and Italian League 2004.
They Said about
Kaka`
-
"The Brazilian
is simply extraordinary. I am well aware of the fact that I have a player
ahead of me who will win the Golden Ball one day." (AC Milan
Player, Rui Costa)
-
"I don't know
whether I can say that he is the best player Milan have ever had during my
time here. I can certainly say
that I've never seen a 21-year-old do the things that he is doing for us
right now." (AC Milan president, Silvio Berlusconi )
-
"He is a
phenomenal player, a true great. The thing that really surprises me is
that he doesn't play like an emerging talent of the game. His performances
are those of an established player who has great experience. He's quite
simply extraordinary." (AC Milan player, Jon Dahl Tomasson )
-
“Kaká can not stay
out of World Cup 2002, because he is the biggest finding in Brazilian
football recently. He is a player that makes a difference and does not
play like a 20 year old. He is excellent, in play making and in finalizing
also” (Carlos Alberto Parreira,(Champion Coach WC1994)
