Chapter 3

*Please don't be confused. I am changing the points of the characters to third person. This ultimately means that I am not sharing the story from Emilie's point of view anymore. I think I would rather do it from third person for a moment.*

"Oh Gawd," Nick shook his head, as they watched Emilie run through the glass doors of the Plaza Motel. "What did I do?"
"She's confused Nick," Brian reassured him. "I'd give her some time to think about everything."
"Maybe someone should see if she's okay though," Howie suggested.
"I will," AJ volunteered, and he chased Emilie out into the snowy Big Apple. He saw her run towards Central Park, which was opposite the Plaza Motel. He saw her collapse in the snow, and tears were streaming down her face. "Em?"
"AJ, oh Gawd," Emilie cried, as she shook her head. "What am I doing?"
"Come here Hon," AJ replied, and he pulled her into his arms. "You were being honest."
"It's so hard," Emilie whispered softly. "But, I do love him AJ."
"Nick knows that," AJ attempted a smile. "Maybe you two should just talk."
"No way," she shook her head. "He already thinks I don't love him because I ran away last night. He's probably with Mandy anyway."
"They broke up Em," AJ told her. "Last night, after you left, they had a big blowout."
"Look what I have caused!" Emilie shrieked, as they both stood up. "I'm going home."
"Emilie, no, it wasn't your fault they broke up," AJ assured her. "Look, Mandy and Nick were having problems before you ever entered the pictures. She's too pushy and their personalities clash anyway."
"But, they looked so happy together yesterday," Emilie added, as snow started getting heavier. "How can a relationship change over night?"
"Anything's possible with love," AJ replied, and he offered her a smile. "Come on inside Em."
"Fine, but I can't see Nick," Emilie made him promise, and AJ just shrugged his shoulders. Tears still stung her eyes, as she followed him into the motel. She waited at the doors for a moment, until AJ persuaded her to come back into the restaurant. She noticed people in the restaurant watching her curiously, as she stood with AJ at the foot of the restaurant. Howie and Kevin were the only ones who remained at the table.
"Em, are you okay?" Howie asked with concerned eyes, and she nodded slightly.
"Where's Nick and Brian?" she asked in a soft voice.
"Right here," said a soft voice, and Emilie turned to see Nick and Brian standing there. Nick looked incredibly sad, and her heart went out to him. Brian offered her a goofy smile, and she smiled back. He went and sat down beside Kevin, and took a sip of his coffee. Nick looked at Emilie and saw tears streaming down her face once more. She didn't know whether to run or hide or leap into his arms for a hug.
"Em, I-I don't know what to say," Nick told her, and she nodded slightly. "I'm sorry I guess is a good start."
"Why are you sorry Nick?" Emilie wanted to know. "I was the one who ran away."
"You were confused," Nick replied. "Are you still?"
"No, I mean, yes, I mean, well...I l-love you, that's for sure," Emilie stammered, and tears came to her eyes. "I just don't want to hurt Mandy or Joey or anyone else involved. Nick, I don't want to hurt you."
"Emilie, how could you possibly hurt me?" Nick asked her, and she shrugged. "You have never hurt me."
"And I never want to," Emilie told him, and Nick looked at her.
"Do you love me?" Nick asked in a passionate voice. "Do you honestly love me?"
"I love you," Emilie whispered, and tears came to her eyes. "But what about Mandy and Joey?"
"Mandy and I broke up," Nick answered, as tears came to his eyes. "And Joey?"
"I could call him," Emilie suggested, and she smiled at him. "Can I borrow your phone?" Nick reached for her hand, and she dialed Joey's number. She walked away from the table and felt her hand start trembling. This was too much. She felt pain strike her heart, as she dialed Joey's number.
"'Lo?" he answered, and she felt tears pour down her cheeks once more.
"Joey? It's Emilie," she said softly.
"Em, what's wrong?" Joey wanted to know.
"I can't go out with you tonight," she whispered. "I-I got back together with Nick."
"What? Oh, okay," Joey replied slowly. "That's okay Em. I understand."
"Really?" Emilie asked surprised. She couldn't believe he was taking this so softly.
"Well I'm kinda bummed, but I understand about Nick and you," Joey replied honestly. "You guys were together for a long time. It's just natural you would still love each other."
"Joey, I feel so bad though," Emilie admitted. "You have been so nice to me, and I hate hurting you."
"Em, there are millions of other women out there for me," Joey replied. "You go with Carter and just remember that I'll always be here for you."
"Thanks Joey," Emilie smiled, and tears came to her eyes. She flipped up the receiver and headed back over to the guys who were sitting around the table.
Everyone had ordered breakfasts for themselves and were sitting around the table eating. She paused at the table for a moment and just admired the scene. She was so happy to be back in their lives again. They were always so good to her and she wished one day she could be as good to them as they always were to her.
"Come and join us!" Kevin encouraged her, and she didn't wait a second. She sat down beside Howie and AJ, as Nick shot her a smile across the table. "Now, what do you want for breakfast?"
"Just coffee thanks," Emilie replied. AJ offered her some of his toast and she thanked him.
"What did Joey say?" Nick asked her.
"He said no prob," Emilie answered, and he nodded. "So, are you all still going shopping?"
"Of course," AJ replied enthusiastically. "I would never miss a shopping trip."
"Cool," Emilie grinned, and took a bite of her toast, when she heard someone's phone ring. Nick picked it up and answered it.
"Em, it's for you," Nick told her, and he tossed the phone. She wondered who it was.
"Hello?" Emilie said, and she heard screaming in the background.
"Emilie? It's Brandy!! Guess what?" Brandy shrieked into the phone.
"What?" Emilie replied. She had just talked to her mom, and wondered why Brandy was calling her again. She desperately needed her own cell phone.
"Mommy's going to have a baby!" Brandy replied excitedly. "She's going to have a baby in December!"
"What? You're joking!" Emilie cried, as she heard someone take the phone.
"Honey, it's true," Mrs. Parker told her. "I knew, but I never told anyone since there was complications with the birth since I am almost 45. I was scared I would lose the baby, but the doctor just said everything's fine."
"Mom, is this a joke because it is...," Emilie said.
"Emilie, why would I lie about this?" Mrs. Parker replied. "I'm due December 15th."
"Omigod! This is unreal!" Emilie shrieked. "I have to come home soon."
"You can come next weekend," her mom told her. "Grandma's here and she's going to help me out."
"Oh, okay, well, congratulations Mom!" Emilie told her. Her mom thanked her and hung up so she didn't waste Nick's cell phone minutes. She leaned back in the chair and was trying to take the shock in.
"What's wrong?" Brian asked her.
"Oh nothing, except my mom's pregnant," Emilie replied and excitement crept through her body. When Brandy and Jordan were born, it had been exciting, but now it was unreal. She realized she wasn't going to see her new sibling grow up because she was going to be at College for their first six months. She sighed, and saw the guys looking at her with exciting eyes.
"Wow!" Howie winked at her, and Emilie beamed. Everything in her life was changing more rapidly then ever and she wondered when everything was going to be normal again. She cast a smile at Nick and his eyes flashed back at hers.
"Hey boys!" said a familiar voice, and they all turned to see Amanda, Mandy, and LeighAnne standing there.
"Hi," AJ smiled, as Amanda came over and kissed him on the lips. "How was your shopping trip?"
"Pretty awesome," Mandy replied in cheerful voice. "Hi Nick."
"Hey Mandy," Nick replied, looking uncomfortable.
"Nick, want to go get a cappuccino?" Mandy asked him, offering him a small smile.
"I was going to go somewhere with Emilie," Nick replied slowly, and Mandy looked at her.
"Oh," she nodded. "I see you two have reconciled your differences. How exciting!"
"I'm sorry Mandy," Emilie looked at her, as tears came to her eyes. "I can understand how hurt you are."
"I'm sure you care Em," Mandy shot back. "You got what you want."
"Look Mandy, you can have Nick if you want him!" Emilie snapped, standing up. "I don't want you to be pissed off at me forever about it. Quit crying and take him."
"But Emilie, you said-," Nick asked her.
"I know I said I love you Nick and I mean it, but if Mandy is going to be unhappy, then I would rather you date her," Emilie answered softly, as tears poured down her cheeks again.
"Em, please," Nick pleaded with her, and Emilie shook her hand.
"Mandy, come on," Amanda begged her. "Be fair."
"I am being fair," Mandy answered, as tears came to her eyes. "I really love Nick and she thinks she can bounce back and get him. I want to be with him more than anything."
"Mandy, I'm sorry," Nick apologized and he pulled her into his arms. "But, I love you as a friend, but Emilie I love the most."
"I know Nick," Mandy whispered to him. "I knew the day we started dating. Your heart will always belong to her."
"Why didn't you say anything?" Nick wanted to know, and Emilie didn't know whether to run and hide, or stay with them.
"Because I was scared to lose you," Mandy admitted, and she glanced at Emilie. "But obviously, Emilie and you belong together."
"So, can I go with her?" Nick wanted to know.
"No," Mandy replied softly. "I need you Nick."
"But Mandy, I need Emilie," Nick answered softly. "She needs me too."
"What does she have that I can't give you?" Mandy wanted to know, as she let go of him. "I'm prettier then her. I can be there for you more then her. I can love you more then her!"
"Mandy, it has nothing to do with Looks," Nick answered. "I loved Em for a long time and I love her now."
"Do you love me?" Mandy asked in a small voice.
"I love you too Mandy," Nick nodded. "But I need Emilie."
"I love you Nick and I want you to be happy," Mandy sighed. "This is the hardest thing I will ever have to do. I am letting you go."
"I'm sorry Mandy," Nick apologized once more, and she hugged him for the last time.
"Emilie, treat him good, because he is one of the sweetest guys you'll ever meet," Mandy made Emilie promised.
"I will Mandy," Emilie promised her. "I'm truly sorry." Mandy just shook her head and walked away.
"I'm really sorry Emilie," Nick told her. "I never imagined I would end up hurting two of the people I love."
"Nick, you never hurt me," Emilie replied with a smile. "I'm sorry about before. I really do love you."
"How about a drink now?" AJ suggested, and everyone just nodded solemnly...

Dalilia Ling walked into her office on a cold Wednesday morning, and shook her head at the snow that seemed to be lingering down around her. The front desk secretary handed her some mail, and she thanked her. She headed to the office staffroom and made herself some coffee. She yawned, and waved hello to one of her co-workers. She was exhausted. The night before, Katie had been up late with the flu and she was miserable as well. Her mother refused to take care of Katie because she had an important business function, so she was left in care of her part time nanny.
"Dalilia, you looked fried," said her legal partner Kiley.
"I am fried," Dalilia answered, sitting down in front of her desk. "Katie has the flu and my mom refused to watch her."
"Your mother is very superficial," Kiley commented. "She won't even help her own daughter out."
"Kiley, I don't need your crap today," Dalilia snapped. "Don't you have any work?"
"PMS hit you hard?" Kiley snapped back.
"Damn it Kiley," Dalilia slammed down her mail. "Can't you leave me alone for once?"
"Just because you can't see Howie..." Kiley said, and Dalilia glared at her.
"This has nothing to do with Howie," Dalilia snapped.
"Yeah, whatever," Kiley shook her away. "It's not my fault he doesn't visit you."
"He can't visit me," Dalilia defended him, as she brush a raven-black piece of hair off her forehead. "He's busy."
"Busy romancing other women!" Kiley muttered, and Dalilia shot daggers at her. "Calm down Dal."
"I miss him Kiley," Dalilia sighed. "I really do."
"When was the last time you were together?" Kiley wanted to know.
"About a week ago," Dalilia responded, taking a sip of her coffee. "He came down for the weekend with Katie and I."
"Why don't you take some time off and go see him?" Kiley suggested. "The cases aren't that important right now!"
"But, what about Katie?" Dalilia asked.
"Bring her with you!" Kiley answered standing up. "It's not that big of a deal Dalilia. It's not like you can't afford it."
"Kiley, that's unfair," Dalilia snapped.
"Dal, you are a millionaire," Kiley winked, as she paused at the door. "Use it to your advantage."
"Kiley, I can't just quit my job!" Dalilia protested, and Kiley pretended not to hear her.
Now what am I supposed to do? she thought to herself. She glassed at the glossy black phone that sat on her desk. She thought about the cases they had at the firm and realized they really weren't that busy. The staff could easily handle the proceedings, and besides, they were always encouraging her to spend more time with Katie. She hadn't vacationed with her in almost a year since the summer searches to meet with her father which always ended in broken heartedness.
"Why not?!" Dalilia said loudly, and she picked up the receiver. She dialed Howie's cell phone, and it rang once.
"Hello?" Howie's sweet voice filled the receiver.
"Hey Sexy," Dalilia breathed into the phone. "How are ya?"
"Hey you!" Howie smiled. "I'm great Hon. How are you? How's Katie?"
"I'm fine, but Katie's got the flu," Dalilia replied. "She desperately needs her mommy."
"Well, take the day off babe," Howie encouraged her. "I hate seeing you stressed out."
"Actually, that's why I'm calling you," Dalilia began. "I was thinking Katie and I could fly down to meet you somewhere for a few days."
"I'm going to be back in Orlando on Wednesday," Howie told her. "I've got some promotional stuff to do up here in NYC, and then I have a few weeks off before we start a Canadian tour."
"Want us to come down?" Dalilia suggested.
"Sure!" Howie said excitedly. "You two could stay at my house and we could go to Disney World."
"That sounds great!" Dalilia grinned. "How about I get some plane tickets for Friday and I'll call you about the details."
"Sure, hon," Howie agreed. "Call me later?"
"Sure, love ya," she kissed the receiver and hung the phone up. She immediately dialed her friend who worked at a travel agent and arranged a great weekend in Orlando....

***********************

"It's undeniable that we should be together, it's unbelievable that I used to think I found heaven..." the radio in the limo sang out, as Emilie rode with Nick, Brian, LeighAnne, AJ, and Amanda to have some dinner at a classy restaurant in the Chinese district.
"This song is so sweet," Amanda commented, as AJ placed his arm around her. "Don't you think so Bone?"
"It's beautiful babe," AJ replied, and he kissed her cheek. Emilie looked at Nick, who was sitting across from her. He smiled at her, and coaxed her over to the other side of the limo. She bounced over, and sat down beside him. She placed his arm around her and she snuggled up to him.
"I'm so glad you two are back together," LeighAnne smiled at them. "You are perfect for each other."
"Just like you and Bri," Emilie replied, and LeighAnne nodded. Brian gave her a quick squeeze.
"Em, you look so good tonight," Nick whispered into her ear. "I can't believe how beautiful you are."
"Nick, you don't how long I have waited for you to say that," Emilie whispered back. "You look so great too."
"Some people keep saying I look too heavy," Nick told her.
"Nick, you are not heavy!" Emilie said softly, but sternly. "Don't ever let anyone say that to you. You are perfect just the way you are!"
"Em, you see why I love you?" Nick smiled, and she nodded.
"We are being so mushy today," Emilie giggled. "How's your family?"
"Very well," Nick replied. "They live in California now and I'm going to go visit them this week."
"That'll be nice," Emilie told him. "I saw you and Aaron's reunion in Ottawa on TV and I couldn't believe it. You guys miss each other so much. You should stay in contact Nick."
"We do Hon," Nick replied solemnly. "I'm looking forward to my three weeks off."
"I have never been there," Emilie told him. "I bet it's so nice there this time of year."
"So, can't you believe your mom's pregnant?" Nick wanted to know. "I can remember when the twins were born."
"Nick, I am so excited!" Emilie beamed. "I hope she has a little girl."
"What's wrong with a baby brother?" AJ asked, and a grin creased his face.
"Baby girls are way cuter!" Amanda winked at him. "We don't want any little Bones running around."
"Only little Tykes!" Brian put in, and they all laughed.
"Speaking of Tyke, where is he?" Emilie wanted to know. She had heard so much about his beloved dog, but had never actually met him.
"He's back at the motel in our room," LeighAnne replied. "I'll introduce you tomorrow."
"I can't wait!" Emilie replied enthusiastically. "I have to leave tomorrow though!"
"Come on, stay until Tuesday!" Nick coaxed her.
"Well, I have class though!" Emilie answered. "But, I guess, I could..."
"I will not here any of that!" Brian told her. "You are going to class!"
"Why don't you come down to Ottawa then Nick?" Emilie suggested. "You can sleep on the floor on our room."
"Billie would love me there," Nick laughed, and Emilie shook her head. Knowing Billie, she wouldn't care less. She was so easygoing.
"Billie couldn't care less!" Emilie replied. "She is so easygoing. She goes to class in her flannel pyjamas."
"That's my kind of women!" AJ insisted, and Amanda pretended to punch his arm. He wrestled her playfully to the floor seat, and kissed her for a while.
"Gross! So gross!" Nick teased them.
"Oh yeah?" Emilie asked him, and she turned to him, and gave him a longer kiss then Amanda and AJ.
"Gross! So gross!" AJ mimicked Nick.
"Three can play this game!" LeighAnne winked, and she gave Brian a kiss too.
"Woohoo! Who's the winner? And what's the prize?" Amanda asked.
"I already have my prize!" Brian said slyly, and LeighAnne grinned at him.
"This whole limo is full of sappy people!" AJ complained.
"What's wrong with being sappy?" Amanda pouted at him, and he grinned.
"Omigoodness, I am so happy to be here!" Emilie said all of a sudden. "I have missed you all so much!"
"Not as much as I've missed you!" Nick told her.
"Well, you're here now!" Brian winked at her.
"So, what are we all doing for the Millennium?" Amanda wanted to know. "AJ, you still haven't told me."
"I'm staying home," LeighAnne said. "I don't trust all that Y2K stuff!"
"I'm with ya babe," Brian added.
"I'm probably going to have a party at my house," Emilie told them. "I'll have over all my high school friends and all College friends, and will have a big party."
"Em, don't you want to spend it with me?" Nick asked her.
"You can come too!" Emilie winked. "But, I don't have to do that. I'll have to be home though because the baby's coming and I want to spend every waking moment with my little sibling."
"Oh, this is so cute!" LeighAnne clapped her hands together. "I bet she'll be absolutely adorable!"
"She'll look exactly like me!" Emilie grinned.
"I know, absolutely adorable!" Nick flirted with her. "Maybe, you and I could spent the Millennium together. Just the two of us."
"Oh, gawd, bring out the violins!" AJ teased them, and Nick shot him a Look, but there a twinkle in his eyes.
"Bone and I are going to have the most kick ass party this side of the States!" Amanda cried.
"That sounds awesome!" AJ grinned, and he kissed her once more. "But, none of us will being spending it together."
"AJ, we are together almost every day of the year," Nick informed him. "We can spend the day before together!"
"Um..no thanks," AJ joked, and Nick looked upset. "Kaos, I'm just kidding buddy."
"I know, so am I!" Nick replied, and everyone laughed. "Why don't we all get together in Orlando?"
"But, what about my family?" Emilie asked. "I would love to spend it with them too."
"Why don't you all come to Florida?" Nick suggested. "I'll fly my family in, you fly yours in, and we can have a big bash somewhere!"
"Yeah, and then we'll all be together!" AJ said, and they all nodded. "Why are we planning for the millennium now? We haven't even worried about Christmas yet!"
"I know what I want for Christmas, and I think I already received it," Emilie said softly, and Nick winked at her.
"I got my present too babe," Nick replied, and he pulled her closer to him.
The limo came to a complete stop, and the limo driver came around to open the door for them. Emilie stepped out first, and she felt her heals collide on the ice. She saw fat, snowy white snowflakes cascading down on her. She couldn't how hard the snow was coming down within only a few minutes that had passed.
"Whoa!" Nick commented, as he stepped on the ice behind Emilie. He slipped, and she grabbed his arm.
"This is so beautiful!" Amanda breathed, as she stepped out of the limo. "Oh. I love snow!"
"I'm going to catch some snowflakes on my tongue!" Emilie said gleefully, as a childhood energy evaporated throughout her body. She took Nick's hand and glided on the snow, and attempted to catch some. She shivered with cold, and Nick wrapped his arms around her from behind. He kissed the top of her head, as the snowflakes dropped everywhere except her tongue.
"This is so much fun!" Amanda shrieked, as she followed Emilie's lead. "Aw! AJ, stop slobbering on me!"
"But, I can't help it," AJ replied honestly, as he wrapped his arms around her. "Every time I see a lovely women, I just want to hold her close."
"Bone, you know I love you," Amanda told him softly.
"Panda, I love ya too," AJ answered, and there was almost tears in his eyes. Brian and LeighAnne were kissing under a streetlight. There was so much romance in the air, and Emilie couldn't believe she was finally in Nick's arms once more.
"I'm hungry!" Amanda complained. "Come on, let's go get some rice and chicken balls!"
"Chicken balls?!" everyone replied in unison, and Amanda blushed.
"Um, hon, don't you mean sweet and sour chicken?" AJ teased her, and Amanda nodded slightly, but there was a small smile curling up on her raspberry-stained lips. They entered the restaurant and noticed there wasn't many people out in the snowstorm.
Suddenly, they heard their limo driver come through the door. "Ladies and gentleman...," he said urgently.
"This is Mambo No.5," AJ whispered, and everyone started cracking up.
"I have received the weather report and I believe it's a good idea that you all go back to the Plaza Motel," he replied, as his face became nervous. "The snowstorm will be continuing throughout the evening, and we are expecting almost fifteen inches by the morning."
"This is surreal," LeighAnne commented, looking out the window. "It never snows in Big Apple, at least not this severe."
"Come on, we can dig out at the motel," Brian suggested.
"Aw, I wanted chicken balls!" Amanda commented, and everyone looked at her. "Just kidding!"
"Come on, let's go!" LeighAnne laughed, and they headed back into the snowy weather, and entered the limo...

*Hi everyone!!!!! What's up?? I have to say hi to everyone! Hey to Rachel, Vanessa, and everyone else who has read my story. You are all so nice. I really appreciate you writing to me. I have to tell someone, I just heard a beautiful song by 98* called "The Gift". It's off their holiday album which is being released on October 19th. I can't wait. I think it's going to be really great holiday album. I don't know about everyone else, but I love Christmas so much. Holiday music has got to be my favourite type of music. I love holidays as well because there is such a sense of love and understanding that develops, that seems to be absent throughout the rest of the year. Okay, I'm getting sappy!!! Also, I heard that the Backstreet Boys have read this story. I don't know if it's true, but if they have, I am so honoured! I just hope they don't think I'm too much of a freak. Anyway, if they have read it, thanks for reading it! I really appreciate it! I'd better go! Thanks so much guys from the bottom of my heart. Always, Emilie :)*
