Emilie's New Life
by Emilie (emmarosebsb@hotmail.com)
Chapter 6
"You're a big fine woman, won't you back that thing up?" sang the TV in the motel room, as Emilie shifted over in her bed, and felt her hand smack Nick's head.
"Ow!" he moaned softly, his baby blue eyes opening immediately.
"Sorry!" Emilie yawned, as she sat up to observe AJ dancing in front of the mirror. "Um..AJ?"
"Yeah?" AJ answered, as he kept dancing.
"Are you insane?" Emilie wanted to know, as she glanced at the alarm clock on the side of the bed. It read ten o'clock.
"Of course!" AJ laughed, as he stopped dancing. "You already know that."
"Why are you dancing so early in the morning?" Emilie groaned, as she flopped down in her bed.
"Morning workout with BET," AJ winked. "It's almost ten anyway."
"He's always this crazy Em," Nick whined, as he sat up. "Bone, can you back that thing up in the gym or something? Em and I are very tired."
"Yeah sure," AJ laughed, as he grabbed his sneakers, shut off the TV, and headed out the door.
"Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out," Nick told him, and he fell back into bed.
"Geez," Emilie commented, as Nick flounced back beside her, but she had to laugh.
"It's not funny," Nick told her, but there was a smile apparent on his lips. "Okay, maybe it is."
"How are you this morning?" she asked him, as she rolled over to face him.
"Tired," Nick admitted, as he stroked her hair. "You?"
"Tired," Emilie responded. "Have you ever shared a motel room with AJ?"
"Rarely," Nick answered, as he sat up once more. "Bone's too crazy for me."
"Nah, he's okay," Emilie grinned, sitting up as well. "Let's go get some breakfast Nick."
"Yeah, sounds great," Nick answered, as he grabbed his cargo pants, and Nike shirt, and headed into the shower first. Emilie took the time to make both beds, and headed over to her suitcase. She picked out a pair of jeans and a grey Carleton sweatshirt, and took out some deodorant and her brush.
She walked towards the window of the motel to see if it was snowing, and observed big, chunky snowflakes cascading down among the Parliament buildings. She saw some cars stuck in traffic, as a smile creased her lips. It was almost the end of November, and she had a fuzzy feeling in her stomach. She couldn't wait until Christmas. It was her ultimate favourite time of the year, and the thought of spending another Christmas with Nick was amazing. She was so glad their relationship had lasted that long.
RRRRRIIIIIINNNNNGGGG went the phone, and Emilie ran to pick it up.
"Hello?" she asked, as she heard some commotion in the back.
"Is Nick there?" said a snotty voice.
"Sure, who's this?" Emilie replied politely.
"It's Mandy," she snapped, and Emilie dropped the phone, as Nick came out of the shower.
"It's Mandy," Emilie repeated, gesturing towards the phone, as she headed into the shower.
"Oh," Nick nodded, and he headed to pick the phone up. Emilie debated whether she should stay and make sure everything was okay, but changed her mind, and headed into the shower. She got out quickly, to observe Nick was still on the phone.
"Mandy, yeah, everything is fine," he commented, as he laid back on AJ's bed. "Em's fine. She hasn't said anything about you." Emilie heard someone knock at the door, and she opened it to reveal AJ. He was hot and sweaty from the gym, and he gave her a goofy smile.
"Hey," he said, as he came in. "What's up?"
"Hi," Emilie answered with a smile. "I'm okay. How was your workout?"
"Awesome, considering there was a hot blond working out beside me," AJ replied, as he headed over to his suitcase.
"AJ," Emilie cried, but she was laughing. "Only you would go to the gym for the sake of seeing women." She saw Nick put the phone down and she cringed at what he was going to say.
"Mandy's okay," Nick told them, as if Emilie and AJ really cared. "She's just going to go shopping this morning."
"Great," AJ offered a fake smile, and headed into the shower.
"What's his problem?" Nick wanted to know, as he flounced down on his bed.
"Nothing," Emilie shrugged, as she grabbed her purse. "I'm going to get some breakfast and then I have to head over to the campus because I have class soon. I guess I'll see you later?"
"Yeah okay," Nick nodded, barely paying attention.
"Nick? Why are you basically ignoring me?" Emilie wanted to know, as she paused before she headed out the door.
"I'm not ignoring you," Nick reassured her. "My mind is just preoccupied."
"Preoccupied with Mandy," Emilie muttered. "Whatever Nick."
"Don't get mad at me!" Nick told her. "It's not my fault you have class."
"Nick! I never said that!" Emilie answered frustrated. "Forget it. Obviously, Mandy is more important then me."
"Em, don't start, please," Nick snapped, and Emilie's eyes flew open. "Mandy's not that bad."
"Nick! She called me a bitch and said all these horrible things about me!" Emilie defended herself.
"Well, you were kind of bitchy to her," Nick explained slowly. "She was just wanting to get to know you, and you were kind of rude."
"Nick, I can't believe you just said that!" Emilie shrieked, as tears came to her eyes. "I thought you wanted to get back with me."
"Why are you twisting it all around?" Nick asked her. "I never said I didn't want to be with you Emilie."
"Nick! Ugh! Forget it!" Emilie screamed. "You have Mandy on a hierarchy, and I don't even exist when she does."
"Em, you are really making a big deal out of nothing," Nick sighed. "Forget about it."
"I can't forget about it!" Emilie told him. "When my boyfriend is best friends with his ex-girlfriend and shoves his girlfriend aside, then we really do have problems. Nick, if you still love Mandy, you should just tell me."
"I don't love her!" Nick snapped. "I love her as a friend."
"Why do you want to be friends with her?" AJ commented, as he came out of the shower. "She's nasty Nick."
"AJ, shut up," Nick told him. "You barely know Mandy."
"Yeah, but I know Emilie and you can't keep playing games with her," AJ snapped back.
"Emilie doesn't want me to have girl friends," Nick told AJ, ignoring Emilie.
"I never said that!" Emilie shrieked. "Nick, I just want to know if you really love me."
"I do, I mean, I don't...I mean, I do, of course," Nick stuttered, and Emilie's eyes flew open in shock.
"What?" Emilie cried, as tears came to her eyes. "Nick, so you don't really love me?"
"I do, but I'm confused Em," Nick told her. "I kind of miss Mandy."
"Carter, please, that is pathetic," AJ told him. "Mandy can barely compare to Emilie."
"Know what, screw it!" Emilie yelled, standing up. "I'm gone Nick. Call me when you make up your mind." She opened the door, took her suitcase, and slammed the door behind her.
"Aren't you going to go see if she's okay AJ, as usual?" Nick snapped at him.
"Nick, if I wanted to, I'd kick your ass," AJ told him, as he headed for the door. "Why don't you fly home?"
"Maybe I will," Nick told him, picking up the phone. "I'll go see Mandy."
AJ shook his head, and turned to see Emilie outside the motel room, crumpled on the floor, looking blue. "Emilie! Omigod! Emilie! Wake up!" AJ shook her. He checked her pulse rate, and her forehead which was burning up rapidly. AJ banged on Nick's door, and he opened the door with a smug smile. "Call 911! Now!"
"Why? Emilie?" Nick cried, glancing down at her. He rushed to her side, as AJ dialed 911....

"I should have made that one," Kevin told Brian frustrated, as they played golf together. "It was a perfect shot."
"Kevin, it was a perfect opportunity, but you can always get the next one," Brian reassured him, as he swung at his blue-tinted golfball and it landed in the lake. "Look at me today." Brian laughed, and put down another golf ball.
"How's LeighAnne's movie going?" Kevin wanted to know, as he offered his cousin a smile.
"Pretty well actually," Brian responded. "I'm going to go visit this afternoon."
"That's good," Kevin told him. "Kristen's working until late, and I think we're going to dinner tonight."
"It's nice to have some time off," Brian commented, as Kevin went to hit his golf ball.
"It sure is," Kevin agreed. "I do love performing though. I can't believe our Canadian tour starts right after Christmas."
"It's going to be nice to go up there again," Brian told him. "I felt really bad we weren't able to go to all the cities there."
"Same here," Kevin said, as Brian's cell phone rang. "I wonder who that is."
"Hello?" Brian answered it. "AJ? What's wrong? What?? Emilie's where? Oh Gawd. Is she okay? She is dehydrated. Why? What's she doing? Us to fly down? I guess we could, no I mean, we should. Is she...you know?"
"What's wrong?" Kevin asked alarmed.
"Okay, I'll call Howie, and thanks man," Brian said. "She'll be okay man. This is Emilie. She's strong. Where's Nick? He what? You've got to be kidding. Oh Lord. Okay, I'll call you later."
"What's wrong?" Kevin repeated.
"Emilie's in the hospital," Brian replied. "She's dehydrated and she has a high fever. AJ wants us to fly down and see her. Nick and Emilie had a fight. Nick told her he wasn't sure if he really loved her."
"What the Hell is his problem?" Kevin snapped. "No wonder why she's dehydrated. Nick keeps playing games with her."
"Kev, come on," Brian said, defending his best friend. "So, should we fly down?"
"I don't know," Kevin replied. "I mean, I have to go meet Kristen tonight and you have to visit LeighAnne."
"Well, I hope she's okay," Brian commented. "We can keep calling to make sure everything is going well."
"If she gets worse, which she won't, we'll fly up and see her," Kevin agreed. "How about we send some flowers?"
"Sure," Brian grinned, as they felt some water begin to sprinkle on them. "Aw man. It's raining."
"So much for our golf game," Kevin laughed, as they began walking towards the clubhouse. "We should call Howie."
"Okay I will," Brian responded, and he dialed Howie's cell number. He left a message on Howie's answering service, and pressed the end button quickly. "Do you really think she's going to be okay?"
"It's Emilie Brian," Kevin reminded him. "She'll do awesome. We can go see her in a few weeks."
"For sure," Brian agreed. "Kevin, didn't you love travelling with her all summer? She is so sweet. She always made me laugh."
"Yeah, she was great," Kevin nodded. "Emilie is one of those people that everyone loves. I miss her too. I have missed her."
"Maybe we should fly down and see her," Brian suggested. "Emilie's always there for us, we should be there for her too."
"How about we go about our plans today and if she gets worse, we'll fly out tomorrow?" Kevin said.
"Yeah sure," Brian agreed, but something within knew she wasn't going to be getting any better...
Emilie groaned in pain as the nurse stuck the IV into her arm, as the doctors bustled around her. All she remembered was blacking out once and then waking up around a bunch of people in white uniforms. She remembered slamming the door, after her fight with Nick, and passing out. She hadn't seen AJ or Nick, and wondered if they were still there. She needed them right now. She needed someone right now, but everyone was too busy fiddling around with machines, needles, and tests, that nobody really seemed too concerned with her emotional plans.
"Can I see Nick or AJ?" she asked the nurse softly.
"I'm sorry honey," the nurse replied. "Nobody can see you until we finish testing you."
"Please? Just for a second?" Emilie pleaded. "I need them."
"Just for five minutes," the doctor smiled at her, and he sent the nurse out to get AJ and Nick. AJ appeared at the door first, and he looked incredibly worried. Nick came next, and there was tears streaming down his face.
"Hi," Emilie said softly, as the nurses and doctor left.
"How are you doing now Honey?" AJ replied softly, as he came over, and sat down.
"I'm very weak and tired," Emilie responded, smiling slightly. "How are you?"
"We're a wreck," AJ answered. "We've been worrying for about three hours. They finally let us see you."
"Did someone call my mom?" Emilie asked, and AJ nodded.
"I did, I called Billie too and the guys," AJ said. "Your parents are flying out tomorrow if you don't improve."
"You guys can leave tomorrow if you want," Emilie told him. "I don't want to keep you from your vacation."
"I am staying here until you're released," AJ smiled.
"AJ, please give me a hug," Emilie told him, as tears came to her eyes.
AJ nodded, and reached over, and wrapped his arms around her. Emilie glanced up and saw Nick hovering near the doorway. He was nervous and she saw more tears in his eyes.
"Nick needs to talk Em if you're up to it," AJ whispered into her ear. "He keeps blaming himself."
"Okay thanks Bone," Emilie whispered back, and he stood up.
"I'll be outside if you need me," AJ commented, and he walked out the door, closing it behind him.
"Nick, hi," Emilie smiled at him, and he attempted a smile back. "How are you?"
"I'm okay," Nick replied, still hovering near the door. "Em, I'm sorry. This is all my fault."
"Nick, please, come here," Emilie told him, and he came over to her. "This is not your fault."
"It is though," Nick argued. "If I wouldn't have had the argument with you, you would be just fine now."
"I started the argument Nick," Emilie replied, as tears came to her eyes. "I should understand that you would still have feelings for Mandy. You have the right to be her friend."
"No Emilie," Nick answered, as his eyes became sad. "I shouldn't even think of Mandy because I have you."
"I don't think we should talk about our relationship right now Nick," Emilie told him. "I need to rest. It stresses me out."
"I'm sorry," Nick apologized. "But Em, one thing, I love you and not Mandy."
"I love you too," Emilie smiled. "Let's leave it at that. Forget about this morning."
"I will," Nick promised. "So, um, how are you feeling?"
"I'm tired," Emilie told him, as Nick smiled at her. "Can you give me a hug please?"
"You don't have to ask," Nick told her, as he stood up and gave her a big one. He climbed onto the edge of the bed, and laid down beside her. "Do they know what's wrong with you?"
"They said I'm dehydrated," Emilie answered. "I don't what else it would be."
"Have you been eating properly?" Nick questioned, and Emilie went pale.
"Yes," she lied, but Nick had caught her. "Fine, no. I haven't eaten in three days."
"Emilie! Why are you doing this to yourself?" Nick wanted to know, as he put his arm around her.
"Because I'm ugly and fat," Emilie answered, as tears came to her eyes.
"Emilie, you aren't honey," Nick whispered to her. "You have to eat Emilie. I told you over the summer you are going to get really sick until the point you won't be able to do anything."
"Nick, I know," Emilie told him. "But in my heart, it's not that. I think there really is something wrong with me."
"Em, don't say that," Nick pleaded with her, as the door opened, and the doctor walked in. Nick's phone began ringing as soon as the doctor came in, and he answered it.
"Okay, time’s up Sir," the doctor grinned at him. "But before you go, are you and your friend famous?"
"Yeah, they are two of the Backstreet Boys," Emilie offered a smile.
"Em, it's Brian," Nick told her.
"My daughter loves you guys," the doctor told him. "She's three and knows all your songs."
"Hello? Brian?" Emilie took the phone from Nick.
"Hey honey," Brian told her. "How are you doing now?"
"I'm okay thanks," Emilie replied. "How are you?"
"Kev, Howie, and I are worried about you," Brian answered. "Did the doctor say anything new?"
"Not really," Emilie said. "They are basically just running tests to make sure everything's okay."
"Okay, well let us know as soon as possible Emilie," Brian said. "Em, do you need anything?"
"I'm okay Brian, thanks," Emilie replied. "Are you guys having fun on your vacation?"
"Sure am," Brian laughed. "Kev and I were playing golf this morning and I hit a ball into the lake. LeighAnne says she hopes you're feeling better too."
"Tell her I said thanks," Emilie smiled. "So, who won? You or Kev?"
"Actually, it started raining, so we went into the clubhouse," Brian said. "Em, is everything going okay with Nick? I can talk to him you know. AJ told us what he said."
"No Brian, everything's wonderful actually," Emilie replied. "Don't worry so much."
"Okay good," Brian nodded, as he waved at a friend. "Okay, I'd better go. Now, do you want Kev and I to fly out tomorrow? We can if you need us there."
"No Bri, I'm okay," Emilie reassured him. "All I would like is for you to have fun on your vacation and also convince AJ and Nick they have to go home soon."
"I'm not leaving," Nick told her. "Until you are better."
"Okay, but if things aren't going better Em, we are coming," Brian said.
"Thanks Brian, but really, I'm okay," Emilie said. "I'll let you go. Bye Brian. Tell Kevin and Howie and LeighAnne I really appreciate them worrying about me. Thanks again."
"Love ya hun," Brian told her. "Take care of yourself. Bye."
"Bye Brian, love you too," Emilie responded, and she ended the phone call.
"Was that your boyfriend?" the doctor asked her.
"I'm her boyfriend," Nick told the doctor and Emilie laughed.
"That was just my older brother," Emilie winked at Nick. "My brothers are just worried about me."
"How many brothers do you have?" the doctor asked.
"Six," Emilie replied. "And one little sister as well."
"Oh," the doctor nodded, and he checked the monitor. Nick gave her a goofy smile, and she giggled. He leaned over and gave her another hug before heading out the door to see AJ.
"How am I doing Doc?" Emilie asked him, and she saw his face become upset.
"Not so good Emilie," the doctor told her. "We reviewed your x-rays and the tests quickly and we think we found something."
"What did you find?" she wanted to know, as her face went pale.
"We found a benign tumor," he told her, and Emilie's eyes flew open. "It's in your shoulder. There was a mole there and we realized it was kind of odd. We can remove it tomorrow in surgery and you'll be just fine. You might have to go through some chemotherapy in order to make sure it didn't spread. We are almost one hundred percent positive it didn't."
"What's my prognosis?" Emilie wanted to know.
"The rest of your life," the doctor smiled. "You've got 50, 100, even 1000 years ahead of you."
"But it's definitely cancer right?" Emilie repeated and the doctor nodded.
"I'm sorry Emilie," he said. "It's hard because you are so young. Do you want me to tell your boyfriend?"
"No!" Emilie cried. "I mean, I'll let him know."
"Okay," the doctor nodded solemnly. "I'll leave and you can tell them."
"Thanks," Emilie nodded, and he left. Nick and AJ came in right away, and Emilie felt tears form in her eyes. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. After everything she had been through, now she had cancer.
"So, what's wrong?" Nick asked her, as he came and climbed on the bed beside her.
"I have cancer," Emilie replied slowly, as tears came to her eyes. "It's a benign tumor which means they can easily remove it. I'm so scared though."
"What?" AJ freaked out. Nick just stared at her speechless. "Are they sure?"
"AJ, it's not really that big of a deal," Emilie tried to play it off, but her eyes showed sheer terror.
"Oh Em," AJ said softly, and he wrapped his arms around her once more. "Everything's going to be just fine."
"I hope so," Emilie whispered back. "They are removing it tomorrow."
"Don't worry," AJ told her. "Everything's going to work out. Right Nick?"
"Yeah sure," Nick nodded, but he had tears in his eyes. "I have to go. I'll be back in a few." He got up and walked through the door, leaving AJ and Emilie staring after him.
"Is he okay?" Emilie wanted to know. "Gawd, I hate seeing him like this. Maybe I shouldn't have told him."
"You have to tell him," AJ answered. "You should let everyone know Em."
"I don't want to worry anyone AJ," Emilie responded, shaking her head. "I'll go through the surgery tomorrow and everything will be just fine."
"Emilie, you have cancer," AJ told her. "You have to tell your parents at least."
"I can't worry them," Emilie told him. "I just can't. My mom is having the baby soon and my dad has enough to worry about with that. Brandy and Jordan are too young to understand."
"Em, listen to me," AJ took her hand and looked into her eyes. "You are their daughter. You are their sister. They care about you a lot and they would want to know. You need them Hun. Don't say you are going to go through this alone because I know you can't. You have been so good to everyone. We all care about you so much and if you don't let anyone know this besides Nick and I, everything is going to be worse."
"I know AJ, but it worries me sick at how upset everyone's going to get," Emilie cried, as tears came to her eyes.
"Let them get upset Emilie," AJ answered. "This is cancer. They deserve the right to know. You come first right now Emilie."
"But the baby, and your vacation and-," Emilie was cut off.
"The baby is important of course, but Em screw our vacation," AJ told her. "The guys would be really pissed off if you didn't let them know. Your family would be devastated."
"AJ, you guys work so hard all year round making your fans happy," Emilie told him. "I'm sure you want to spend your vacation worrying about me."
"Em, you are way important then our careers or our vacations," AJ reminded her, as he wiped a tear away from her face. "Look, do you want to let everyone know?"
"Okay," Emilie nodded, as Nick appeared at the door. "But discourage them from coming down please."
"I won't," AJ promised, and he let the room, but gave Nick a hug before he left.
"Nick, I'm sorry," Emilie told him. "I hate seeing you go through this."
"Emilie, I just don't understand how you can be sick," Nick told her honestly, as he came and sat down beside her. "But, forget about me. We are going to beat this and you are going to come out healthy."
"Of course I will," Emilie smiled at him. "I already feel better. Nick, thanks so much though. I really need you, whenever I have needed you, you are always there for me."
"Em, I love you," Nick told her, and he gave her another hug.
"I love you too," Emilie smiled, kissing his forehead, as his cell phone rang.
"Hello?" he said. "Brian? What? Hold on." He gave the phone to Emilie.
"Hello?" Emilie asked.
"Em, are you okay? Geez, AJ just told us!" Brian told her, frantically.
"Brian, please don't worry," Emilie pleaded with him. "I'm fine, really."
"You are not fine Em," Brian argued with her. "Kev, Howie, and I are flying in tonight and I don't want to hear anything about it. We are staying as long as you need us."
"Brian, no!" Emilie shrieked. "I don't want you here."
"What?" Brian replied. "Really Em?"
"Oh Brian," Emilie said, as tears came to her eyes. "I knew this was going to happen. I shouldn't have had AJ call you. I don't want to worry you."
"Emilie, we needed to know," Brian said calmly. "Do you need us Hon? Be honest."
"Yes I do Brian," Emilie told him. "I want you to have your vacation though."
"Em, don't say that," Brian reassured her. "We want to be there for you. Just get well okay? We'll be there tonight."
"Brian, are you sure?" Emilie asked. "If you have other things to do, please don't come."
"Em, believe me, you are more important," Brian reassured her again. "We'll be there soon, okay?"
"Thanks Bri," Emilie responded. "Words can't express how much you all mean to me."
"You mean a lot to us too," Brian replied. "See you soon. Bye."
"Bye Brian," Emilie said into the phone and she handed the phone to Nick...
************
"Which room is she in again?" Howie asked Brian and Kevin, as they walked through the front doors of the hospital. They observed about four teenaged girls in the waiting room, who were virtually staring at them.
"Omigod! It's the Backstreet Boys!" one shrieked. "Hi guys!"
"Hello," Kevin offered them a smile, as the closet one gave him a hug.
"What are you doing here?" another one asked. "Celebrities never show up at the Ottawa Hospital."
"A friend is sick and we are visiting her," Howie answered, as Brian and Kevin stared at him. "Oops."
"Which friend?" one asked curiously.
"A friend," Brian responded. "We have to go see her. It was nice meeting you."
"Good going Howie," Kevin said sarcastically. "Now, the tabloids are going to figure out it's Emilie and we are going to be questioned about this for a millennium."
"Sorry guys," Howie told them. "Besides, how do you know they'll figure out it's Emilie?"
"All the fans know she goes to university up here," Kevin reminded him.
"Oh yeah," Howie nodded. "I'm such an idiot."
"Quit fighting," Brian told them. "Here's Emilie's room."
"I'm sorry," the nurse stopped them. "You can't go in there. Family only."
"We are her family," Brian argued. "Ask her."
"Names?" the nurse replied and Brian gave them her names. The nurse went in and told Emilie, who alone, because AJ and Nick had gone down to get some dinner for themselves. She had just finished talking to her mother, who was flying out in the morning to see her, with her dad, grandmother, and Jordan and Brandy.
"What did she say?" Howie asked, as soon as the nurse came out.
"She said you are her older brothers," the nurse replied confused. "You look nothing alike though."
"Just say we're adopted brothers," Brian winked at her, and the nurse grinned. They walked in, and they couldn't believe how sick Emilie looked.
She was pale, her hair was a mess, and her eyes were red and puffy was crying. But, her smile was radiant. Her face lit up when she saw them, and her smile made them know she was going to be okay.
"Hi! Thanks so much for coming guys!" Emilie smiled at them. "How was your flight?"
"Pretty good," Kevin answered, as he went over to give her a hug. "How are you doing now sweetheart?"
"I'm doing better now that you are here," Emilie answered, as she squeezed Kevin tight.
"We got you a little something," Brian winked at her, and he handed her a big bag.
"Thanks," Emilie smiled, as she saw Nick and AJ come through the door. She opened the present and pulled out a humongous snowflake-white teddybear with a big read ribbon tyed around it. Her name was sewn into the ear and on the other ear, it read "We Love You Honey". Emilie felt tears come to her eyes.
"You don't like it?" Howie asked smiling.
"No, it's the sweetest gift I have ever received," Emilie replied, as she hugged it close. "Thanks so much."
"No problem," Howie winked at her.
"Just hug it when you need us and it will remind you of us," Brian told her, and she nodded smiling. She reached her arms out, and he wrapped his arms around her.
"Thanks Brian," Emilie whispered into his ear.
"I'm next," Howie told her. Howie gave her a big hug as well, and she thanked him too.
"Hey you two," Kevin said, noticing Nick and AJ for the first time. "How are you?"
"Pretty good Train," AJ replied grinning. "We ran into about four fans down in the lobby and they almost had a heart attack."
"Probably the same four we saw," Howie commented with a smile. "I just hope they don't spread the word we are here."
"Yeah," AJ agreed. "We don't need a bunch of people showing up."
"Nick, what's wrong?" Brian asked him. "You are very quiet."
"Just thinking," Nick replied with a smile. "How are you now Em?"
"I'm doing okay," Emilie smiled. "So, how's everyone doing? You know, how's Katie and Dalilia Howie?"
"They are great," Howie replied. "Katie asked for you and she says to give you a big hug from her."
"Aw, she's so sweet," Emilie beamed, as she heard a knock on the door. "Come in!"
"Emilie? Omigoodness girl! Are you okay?" Billie shrieked, but she stopped short when she saw the Backstreet Boys.
"Hi Billie," Emilie grinned at her best friend. "You know these guys. Bri, Kev, Howie, this is my roommate Billie."
"Nice to meet you," Howie winked at her, and Billie smiled back shyly.
"Hi," Billie grinned at them all, as Drew appeared behind her. "Drew had to come. He was my only ride here."
"No problem!" Emilie smiled. "Hi Drew."
"Hey Em," Drew grinned. "How are you now?"
"I'm doing much better now," Emilie answered, as she attempted to sit up. "I'm glad you guys came."
"Everyone at school has been asking about you," Billie told her, as she came over to give her a hug. "Where's your parents?"
"They are coming tomorrow," Emilie told her, as the phone in her room rang, and Howie answered it.
"Em, it's Brandy," Howie said, handing her the phone.
"Hi Honey," Emilie told her. "What's up?"
"Sissie! Mommy's in labor!" Brandy shrieked. "She's going to have the baby really soon!"
"What?" Emilie shrieked. "Omigod! I wish I was there."
"What Daddy?" Brandy yelled at her dad. "She had a girl? Omigod! Mommy had a girl! Yay!"
"A girl? Mom had a girl?" Emilie answered. "No way. Omigoodness! Wow! Brandy, what does she look like?"
"I don't know, but I have to go Emilie," Brandy apologized. "I'll call you later! Okay? I so so excited!"
"Sure!" Emilie smiled. "Bye honey!"
"Your mom had a girl?" Nick repeated as soon as she was off the phone. "Isn't it too early?"
"Sort of," Emilie answered. "Oh well. I have another little sister. This is so exciting!"
"Congratulations!" Nick told her, and everyone gave her another hug, as they all seemed to forget about what the next day was going to hold...
*Hi everyone. How are you? ;) Okay, no I don't have cancer. So, don't think that. A person I know, who was very, very young, recently died of cancer and this made me think of her. I didn't know her personally, but it made me wonder about why people so young contract these horrible diseases. I dedicate this chapter to her, because she is shining down upon her family in heaven. I also dedicate it to everyone who has had cancer and has lost their life to it.
Just remember, if you have lost a loved one, it's okay to feel sad. Just remember they are your guardian angel and they are always around you, even though you may not feel it. All angels go to heaven, and that's where your loved ones are. Both of my best friends have lost their fathers and I try hard to help them.
Well, better go! Christmas is coming so quick. Mid-terms too! Yuck!
One question for you all--when did you stop believing in Santa Claus? E-mail me your answer! Thanks. Love, Emilie :)*
