The New Orleans Chapter

Author's Note: Thanks about the contest :) It gave me a big cause for motivation to go on with my story. I updated my Ben and Felicity Picture Gallery. I decided to devote a chapter solely on Ben and Felicity. Enjoy!
Story Summary: Felicity and Ben spend there day together and receive a fortune. Will it bring them closer together or drive them apart?
Disclaimer: I didn't make up the characters of this show. The WB creators should be so lucky to be able to have the rights to these kewl people. Got some ideas from "Before Sunrise" I love that movie gotta watch it. Then go to my Before Sunrise Site. Also stole a line from Angela from My So-Called Life.


FELICITY: (voiceover to Sally) "Dear Sally, after the chain of events that have been happening to both Ben and I lately I think we were both ready to spend some time to ourselves."

BEN IS DRIVING AND FELICITY IS STARTING TO NOD OFF. "GLORYBOX" BY PORTISHEAD IS PLAYING ON THE RADIO.

"I'm so tired, of playing
Playing with this bow and arrow
Gonna give my heart away
Leave it to the other girls to play
For I've been a temptress too long
Just . . ."

BEN: "Hey, you can lie down here on my lap."

FELICITY HESITATES. BEN SMILES REASSURINGLY.

"Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
I just wanna be a woman"

BEN: "Don't worry. We don't bite."

Felicity lays her head down on his lap. She is still feeling a little tense. Ben takes one of her hands off the steering wheel and starts to run his hand through her soft curls, back and forth in a repeated slow motion. Soon Felicity's breathing becomes heavy as she starts to drift off.

"From this time, unchained
We're all looking at a different picture
Thru this new frame of mind
A thousand flowers could bloom
Move over, and give us some room"

BEN: (softly) "I had an older cousin who had a girl no more than three years old. I spent like a week over their house. Everytime I wanted to put her to sleep for her afternoon nap, she'd lie on my lap and I'd stroke her hair like this."

BEN CONTINUES STROKING FELICITY'S HAIR IN THE SAME SLEEPY MOTION.

BEN: "I had one of the best moments with her. It's funny with kids like that. They have no luggage. No ulterior motives. I don't feel . . . heavy around them. She doesn't talk a lot and still I felt a connection with her."

"Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
Its all I wanna be is all woman"

BEN LOOKS DOWN AT FELICITY WHOSE EYES WERE LOOKING UP AT HIM.

FELICITY: "You had a trust."

BEN: "Yeah, we did."

FELICITY: "You don't trust easily do you. It seems like you build this wall around you."

BEN: "It's just my defenses."

FELICITY: "I noticed that about you. The way you always seem to be holding a secret. You're hesitant about letting go."

"So don't you stop, being a man
Just take a little look from our side when you can
Sow a little tenderness
No matter if you cry"

Ben stays silent watching the road. Felicity sees this happening again. The walls are building up. She takes his hand that's now wrapped around her waist, and brings his fingers to her lips laying butterfly kisses at the tips. While her other hand is slowly traveling the length of Ben's arms. Ben sighs as she keeps doing what she is doing, breaking down his defenses. Ben moves her hand away and starts to gently caress Felicity's cheek and neck, whispering a touch over her closed eyes. He lets his fingers trail softly onto her lips. Surprisingly, Felicity's mouth opens and she starts to suck Ben's finger. He could feel her tongue rolling around his finger. Ben noticed the way Felicity just looks up at him with a blank look on her face, despite the effect she is having on him. Soon Ben is getting worried that she will start feeling this effect.

"Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
Its all I wanna be is all woman"

Then Felicity breaks the spell and closes her eyes to snuggle against the zipper of his jeans. By the time Ben is sure Felicity is asleep he hears her speak.

FELICITY: "But I know you're in there and that you are slowly revealing yourself more and more everyday. . . and I'll be here to welcome you."
"For this is the beginning of forever and ever
Its time to move over"

Felicity and Ben are going through the French Quarter. The colorful buildings have ornate iron verandahs on the upper floors. Plants snaked their way through some of them hanging off the side. The streets were so narrow in some areas cars couldn't pass by. People were walking around enjoying the sunshine. Felicity and Ben pass by a store window. They see pictures of really fat women showing their tits and sitting on men. One especially is sitting on a man who practically disappears beneath her. A white caption says these jugs are for you. Another picture shows two mischievous red headed boys sticking their middle fingers at the camera. Doggy style literally had a dog in the act.

BEN: (pointing to the dog and the woman mini model) "Not with a dog of course but did you ever try that?"

FELICITY BY INSTINCT SMACKS BEN IN THE ARM. BEN WINCES AT THIS.

FELICITY: "No."

BEN: (quickly changes the subject a little) "How was it for you with Eli?"

FELICITY: "I'll admit there wasn't any real love. Eli was just there to make me forget about Noel. No commitment. No worrying about him calling back. It was a one night stand."

BEN: "Do you regret it?"

FELICITY: "No, I don't. Eli wasn't bad. (pauses and smiles to herself) Like he'd make a joke along the way to help me relax."

A SMALL SMILE GROWS ON BEN'S FACE.

FELICITY: "How was your first time?"

BEN: "Mine was at a friend's party and one thing lead to another. She was older than me. I guess she didn't want to go to college a virgin."

FELICITY: "So both our first times weren't with someone we loved."

BEN: "Have you ever been in love?"

FELICITY: "With Noel I said I loved him, but in love . . ."

BEN: "I've said the same thing too to people."

FELICITY: "People?"

BEN: "Yeah, some girls feel better if you say that when you are about to do it."

FELICITY: "Would you ever say that to me without meaning it?"

Ben looks at Felicity for a long time until Felicity can feel like he could see past all her self analyzing talk. That Ben could almost see a part of her that . . .

BEN: "I would never do that to you."

FELICITY: "Pinkie swear?"

BEN: (laughs) "I pinkie swear."

FELICITY AND BEN LOCK THEIR PINKIES TOGETHER AND BOTH OF THEIR LAUGHTER CAN BE HEARD THROUGH THE CURRENT OF WIND.

FELICITY (voiceover to Sally) "It was like I was actually letting go Sally without thinking . . . and it felt wonderful."

GOMEZ "WE HAVEN'T TURNED AROUND" (the song from Roswell's "Heat Wave" episode when Max and Liz first kissed) PLAYS IN THE BACKGROUND.

"We came, we came, we came again
To stem the tide and point the blame
Came back for more
Came back to see what you had in store"

Felicity and Ben are walking along in an area that's not as packed with tourists. Ben notices a photographer taking pictures of the local scenery. Ben goes up to him.

BEN: "Hi, um would you mind taking a picture of the two of us?"

THE PHOTOGRAPHER TURNS TO THEM.

PHOTOGRAPHER: "Sure."

THE PHOTOGRAPHER LOOKS AROUND SEARCHING FOR AN OPPORTUNE SPOT. BEN HANDS HIM A DISPOSABLE CAMERA.

PHOTOGRAPHER: "Here."

THE PHOTOGRAPHER STANDS THEM AGAINST THE WALL OF A BUILDING.

PHOTOGRAPHER: "Now put your arm around her. There! Like that, loosen up! You look like you're in front of a firing squad! I'm just a man with a camera."

BEN AND FELICITY LAUGH AND THE PHOTOGRAPHER TAKES A PICTURE OF THIS.

Then Ben and Felicity look at one another and stop smiling. They are left looking deeply into one another's eyes. Felicity couldn't help, but notice the way Ben's lips were just above hers.

"So you wanna spin the world around?
So you wanna spin the world around?
And anybody else, cut 'em down"

Felicity could feel the heat permeating throughout Ben's body towards her own. Ben was all Felicity was aware of. She suddenly remembered the way his hands were stroking her hair, and her face in the car.

BEN: (in a low voice) "What are you doing to me?"

FELICITY: (whispers) "Breaking down your wall."

"So you wanna make catastrophe?
Won't you send it right over to me
I got some time
Everybody running high"

Finally, before Felicity closed her eyes she saw Ben smile. Ben's lips barely brushed hers and just as Felicity was about to put her arms around Ben . . .

PHOTOGRAPHER: "Well, that's it. There's a few shots left."

BEN: (disgruntled) "Okay, thanks man."

PHOTOGRAPHER: "No prob. Both of you are very photogenic. You guys should be on tv."

FELICITY AND BEN BOTH SMILE STILL REELING FROM THEIR NEAR KISS.

PHOTOGRAPHER: "Later."

"The same, the same, the same again
To steal the time and haunt the graves
Just because it's there
Don't mean you see it anywhere
Maybe it's a trick of the light
Maybe, yeah"

BEN STARTS TO WALK ON.

BEN: "I can't wait to get these developed."

FELICITY: "Am I the only one who just realized what happened back there?"

BEN: "What?"

FELICITY: "Don't play a dumb blonde with me?"

BEN: "I'm actually more of a dirty blonde."

FELICITY: "That was not in the least way a joke."

BEN: "I know, but can we just leave it at that. We don't have to analyze everything."

"So you wanna spin the world around?
So you wanna spin the world around?
And anybody else, cut 'em down"

BEN TURNS AROUND AND STARTS WALKING AWAY AGAIN. FELICITY RUNS UP TO HIM AND BLOCKS HIS VIEW. THEY ARE FACE TO FACE STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF A SECLUDED SIDESTREET.

FELICITY: "Ben, what are you afraid of?"

"So you wanna make catastrophe?
Don't you send it right over to me
I got some time
Everybody come alive"

BEN IS ABOUT TO ANSWER WHEN HE NOTICES THREE INCONSPICUOUS MEN STARTING TO CLOSE IN ON FELICITY.

BEN: (voice lowered) "Felicity, don't say anything just follow me."

Ben grips Felicity's arm and quickly starts walking her forward towards a crowded area. The men immediately begin following them step by step.

FELICITY: (tense) "Ben!"

"Yeah
So you wanna spin the world around?
So you wanna spin the world around?
And anybody else, bring 'em down"

Felicity hears the faint click of a pocket knife. Ben glances over his shoulder to catch one of the men smile at him. Ben quickens the pace and so do the men. Felicity can see ahead of them becoming more and more crowded with people. Her heart is beating so loud she could listen to it pulsating in her ears. Thankfully they reach a busy intersection and the men disperse into the crowd again waiting for their next target.

BEN: "Are you okay?"

FELICITY: (breathless) "Yeah, I'm fine, just give me a minute."

BEN: "Okay."

"So you wanna make catastrophe?
Don't you send it right over to me
I got some time
Everybody running high"

Ben hugs Felicity to him. Right there on the corner of that busy intersection surrounded by the crush of people coming and going. It reminded Felicity of the time she picked Ben. His face projecting such happiness.

FLASHBACK:

BEN: "It's better than any dream I could have."

BEN: "Felicity?"

FELICITY LOOKS UP. BEN KISSES HER FOREHEAD.

BEN: "It's okay."

"So you say we haven't turned around?
So you say we haven't turned around?
Just everybody else is going wrong
Going wrong"
