Air Info

General

All Air dragons have wings and two sets of limbs. They are all capable of flight and can often be seen soaring over the continent. Due to their keen eyes and astonishing speed they are often used as watchers to guard the entire Northern Continent against raids and attacks. Especially the larger kinds, Storm and Electric can venture far out into the see keeping sky above the ocean free of drak dragons.
Most Air dragons are loners, in fact only Butterflies live in large groups. They all like their freedom and don't much like to be ordered about.
Air dragons live high in the mountains, mostly in nests which are almost impregnable. To protect their nests and hunt for food the Air dragons use their elemental gifts which include power over fog, tempest and wind.

Types

1. Air
Appearance: Air Dragons are medium sized Dragons with large, feathery wings. They have a blue body and bright yellow eyes. On their head are little wings they use for precise navigating.
Air Dragons live on mountain peaks. When they are old enough they choose a life mate and build a nest of
soft spring grass with him/her for their eggs. These nests are only abandoned if one of the partners dies. The grass serves as food for the newborn dragons.
Personality: Air Dragons love to be alone, although they can't live without a mate. They will give all their love to that special someone. They can be quite tender and gentle with their mates though no-one has ever used the word passion to describe the love between two Air Dragons. They are very calm and won't throw themselves in any danger without thinking of all the consequences.
Size: Medium

2. Butterfly
Appearance: Butterflies can be found in all colours of the rainbow, most are one single colour with a wavy pattern. Some crosses with other air dragons have been known to produce duo- and even tritoned beauties. One of their most resilient traits are their feelers that get passed on to each of their offspring (mixed or pure). Without it they wouldn't be able to find their way back home.
Butterflies live in swarms at the edge of the forest, they need
flower fields to survive.
Personality: Butterfly Dragons are cheerful and optimistic breed of dragons. They like to play and frolic in skies and forests alike, mostly in group but sometimes solitary too.
Butterfly dragons live in symbioses with Flower dragons. The flower fields alone aren't enough to feed the butterflies, but the flower dragons that live there bear flowers a hundred times the size of regular flowers. In return the butterfly dragons ensure that the flowers on the Flower dragons stay alive and groomed.
Size: Small

3. Parrot
Appearance: Parrot Dragons come in a range of different colours. The images on the left is an example of a blue-yellow ara. The most common colours however are the red-blue and blue-yellow aras. The least common are the mixes with other air dragons. But all the parrots have at least one thing in common. Their eyes are always purple.
Aras live around the temple, singing and chatting with the spirit dragons, showing their plumage to all who pass.
Parrot dragons really love the garden around the temple because it is the source of their main food supply. A small forest of
cherry trees is enchanted to always bear fruit there. Other food they like includes seeds and bugs.
Personality: Parrot dragons are rather vain. But everyone has to agree their colours do light up a room. They like to spend their days in the garden around the temple showing of their brightly coloured wings and sweet voices.
Since they are rather small they can ride the larger dragons and often do. If treated right (read: praised) they will gladly rid any dragon of parasites and dirt.

Size: Small

4. Cloud
Appearance: Cloud dragons are very calm and relaxed. They are so light they can actually sleep on passing clouds without problem. Their skin colour can range from the sunset pinks and reds to the night-time grey and black, but most are a shade of blue. They have sharp razor-like wings that can be folded back for fast declines or folded out to slow down.
Clouds aren't equipped to fight. Only their wings would pose a threat. They are however camouflaged by cloud-like feathers on their head and tail.
As their name suggests they do everything in the clouds. They also eat
clouds, but generally like some variety in their diet when they are bonded to a human.
Personality: Cloud dragons are very easygoing. They are easy to win over and they are very loyal to their friends. Never has a Cloud betrayed one of it's friend.
When a Cloud dragon meets another in the sky three things might happen. A) the Cloud hides, B) the Cloud engages in a friendly pose or C) the Cloud hits the other with a fog so dense they can escape without being noticed. What they do depends largely on age and mood. Cloud dragons are especially friendly around their adolescence and in the morning, right after sunrise.

Size: Medium

5. Storm
Appearance: Storm dragons are very dark and gloomy in appearance. Their bodies are the dark night-time grey with blue-black hair and wings, swirling with lighter greys. Their eyes are a fiery orange, burning at whomever they are looking at.
Storm dragons live all over the mountains and surroundings. They mostly live alone though sometimes they may form small groups for protection or food. They hunt the skies at dusk and twilight, snatching any remaining
bird out of the sky to feast on.
Personality: Storm Dragons can only be distinguished from the dark Southern dragons by their temperament. They are very calm and easygoing once you get to know them. However, if you make one wrong move, or say one wrong thing they will pull back and cautiously watch from a distance. Their minds are utterly stubborn and almost always working to figure out the ways of the person/dragon in front of them.
Size: Large

6. Electric
Appearance:  Electric Dragons are the largest Air dragons and most likely the most noticeable. They are bright yellow-gold with wings, hair and tail that sparkle in the light. They have never relayed on camouflage, only on pure strength.
Electrics have the power to cause thunderstorms. Since Electrics live on the energy brought by
lightning they gladly use it to feed. They won't object to meat, but the lightning will sustain them longer.
Electrics almost always live in the mountains close to the sea. They love the wide ocean with it's many storms and tempest and like to fly out along with the Storms when they smell the rich ozon air in the distance.
Personality: Electric dragons are very powerful and passionate. They are brave and hotheaded with a great lust for feuds and vengeance.
Electrics are very traditional in their ways. To pass time they like to duel and hold races. When the young females are ready to choose mates the males will battle for them, ensuring only the strongest will pair off. This is a marvellous event with lightning and energy bolting around and even thunderstorms erupting from all the ionised particles in the air.
