Dark Info

General Sneakiness

Dark Dragons of Category 3 Are often referred to as the 'sneaky dark dragons'. They are small and agile and often do not seem to be really threatening. They are often preyed upon by the larger dark dragons, but don't let their looks and status fool you. Category 3 or not, they're still dark dragons.
Being of the cute variety of dragon type has often played very well for them in the past, being able to lure humans into their snares, or to get others to protect them from their enemies. All these dragons are little backstabbers, at least a demon let's you know you're on the menu ;).

Types

1. Dwarf/Moss
Appearance: Moss dragons are without a doubt the most common dragons of the Southern Continent. They are at the bottom of the food chains and can hardly be called evil, just misfortunate. Their gentle nature and yielding character has made them able to live in larger groups than any other species on the dark half of Lyria, giving them a strength in numbers not even a demon can defeat, most likely because Moss dragons are so quick on their feet that it is unlikely that any hunter would get more than one or two of them while the rest gets away, going up in the scenery with their grey skins and mossy back-growth.
Personality: Moss Dragons are easygoing and will bond just about anyone who comes to the Southern Half of Lyria. This of course means that they usually bond the less evil candidates since all the other dragons will bond before them, picking the characters they find suiting. But even if they should find themself with someone darker, Moss dragons are quite useful because of their endurance, small physique and speed, a combination of skills not seen in any other dragon on the Southern Continent (though Grims and Wolves come close).
Size: Small
Type: Land

2. Swamp
Appearance: Swamp Dragons are dragons born for living in shallow waters. Though water dragon, they don't need to be submerged completely and have a breathing system close to that of a crocodile. They can stay submerged for a long time by storing air in their lungs, but have to come up every now and then to breath in fresh air. They are slow movers, but protected by such strong skin and scales that not much can be done to hurt them.
Personality: Being accustomed to the swamp and the relative safety it offers against the large predators, Swamp Dragons have no need to be extremely vicious or fast. They usually fill their days moving slowly through the murky waters, eating whatever lands in front of them. If they ever meet another Swamp Dragon, greetings might be exchanged (if they notice each other), but most likely the two of them won't move on together. That is reserved for couples with small, more fragile offspring who need guarding against Grim Dragons. Being practical dragons, the couple will disband as soon as the children are old enough, to move on their own again until they find a new mate.
Size: Small to Medium
Type: Water

3. Grim
Appearance: Grim Dragons are pitch black, furry dragons that bear some semblance with wolf dragons in outer appearance. However, the two species will bear a grudge if anyone would even imply that fact. They are often referred to as the hounds of hell because of their high-pitched screams and howls that could send anyone shivering with fright.
Personality: Grim Dragons are rumoured to be a forebode of death, it is certainly true that these little rascals enjoy seeing suffering and that they have good instincts when it comes to disaster and sadness, but it is unsure if they really have a bond with Death. In the wild they remain in groups of 5 to 10 members, hunting and scavenging whatever meal they can find. When bonded they tend to be more like cats then like dogs in behaviour, sleeping almost all day, hunting during the night and choosing whether one is allowed to touch it and when it is appropriate to touch.
Size: Small
Type: Land

4. Diver
Appearance: Diver Dragons are black patched over grey, marbled with silver-blue. This is to say that they have great camouflage skills against the dark cliffs where they live. Their bodies are a dark grey with lighter, marbled skin that is hardened in a mask and at their wings to give them extra strength when hurling themselves down. These chitine-like protection makes sure the part sof their body vital for survival, can't be hurt by hitting the sea (or missing it and hitting the rocks around) when trying to catch fish (or tastier creatures that dwell in the ocean).
Personality: Divers are by nature lonely dragons. If they would not have to worry about being hunted by the larger dragons they would all find some secluded spot for themselves, making sure no-one else could reach it. Some try that even in these dangerous times, some even survive, but the majority of Divers have given up total freedom in light of surviving and live in flocks that mostly consist of relatives. It is said that there's always one on guard against attacks.
Size: Medium to Large
Type: Air

5. Scarab
Appearance: Scarab dragons Have two scythe-like limbs attached to their front legs. Along with the sharp spikes on their head and back and the vice-like tweasers on their tale they form quite the formidable enemy for any human unfortunate enough to encounter one. It's not that scarab dragons have a distinct taste for human flesh (though they're not picky), it's just that little food comes their way in the desert where they live...
Personality: Scarab dragons are in essention loners. They keep to themselves in the the burning heat of the desert, finding what food they can, mating occasionally if the situation arrives and generally enjoying their own quiet life. Trespassers be warned, they're extremely territorial and are very willing to use force against anyone entering their domain.
Size: Medium
Type: Fire

6. Ghost
Appearance:  Ghost Dragons are quite noticeable on the Southern Continent. Unlike most of the other species they are brightly-coloured, daring to appear in white robes, a thing a Category 3 dragon would usually end up dieing because of. Of course, Ghosts have little to fear since they are insubstantial and live in what can be called a fortress on the very Northern tip of the Southern Continent. Even if someone could make use of them, they just aren't worth the trip.
Personality: Ghosts, like their appearance are fleeting, mysterious dragons that hardly stay around long enough to bond. Bonders of Ghost Dragons are often left alone for days without knowing where their dragons have gone, but maybe because it's a universal law, ghosts will always come back to the object that binds them, to haunt whoever is there. of course, if you willingly bonded a ghost haunting isn't the right word. Maybe that's why ghosts tend to not like staying with their haunting objects, it just isn't fun if nobody gets scared.
Size: Depends
Type: Spirit
