Dark Mixes

When some dragons mate they tend to
create some rather peculiar offspring. On this page you can see what you can
expect from clutches.
When 'Sneaky Evil' Dark Dragons mate, four mixed breeds are reported to be
seen. It is unknown if these are all the mix breeds that exist, or if
stranger dark creatures are lurking behind the corner, waiting for a chance
to be brought in the world.
If two mixed breeds breed (is this still making sense?) there will of course
be mixed breeds, but also any other dragon type that can have this type of
breed as an offspring.
Not all dragons resulting from a mix breeding will be mixed breeds by the
way, there
will be some dragons resembling the parents as well.

1. Wraith
Appearance:
Wraiths are partly transparent grey-blue dragons that
are rumoured to be spirits returned to take revenge on those that killed
them. They have a dark ridge running from their head to their tail that
vaguely reminds us of aquatic dragons. But they also have two diamond-shaped
wings that are without a doubt air specific and two arched horns that look
more as if they belong to an Earth dragon.
Personality: Wraith Dragons are
mysterious dragons. They explain little of their actions and never let you
in on their secrets and what the hell they've been doing in the middle of
the night with that skull, black candles and rat corpse. Do not be afraid of
them though, these spirits only seek revenge and never hurt the ones they
bond.

Dark Heart
Appearance:
Dark Hearts are blood-red dragons with a dark look to
them. Their wings are black with faint red patterns that look like smears of
blood. With their black hair and black wings, the two dirty-ivory horns are
usually the first thing the unwary traveller sees when he encounters a dark
heart. Of course, maybe this is preferred over seeing their malicious eyes,
glowing faintly yellow in the dimmed light of Lyria's Southern
Continent.
Their preferred attack is laying a trap with their two-pronged, heart-shaped
tail, then squeezing to death whoever is stupid enough to fall for the 'oh
mommy, what a pretty heart is on the ground here, can I take it?'-scheme.
Personality: Dark Hearts were named not
only because of their looks, also their vile temperament gave them their
name. For a sneaky mix, they carry a large grudge against all those that are
not of their kind. They dispise those smaller than them because they are
weak, and they hate the larger because they pose a threat. This is why most
Dark Hearts do not care for forming a group, and also why most Dark Hearts
do not survive long. The few who do are said to be loners who are hidden at
the edges of the world in dire conditions. They do not mind this, what does
not kill you makes you stronger and they need the strength to take
revenge...

Shadow
Appearance:
Shadows are dark, whispy dragons that can seem partly
transparet at time. No-one has ever seen a shadow's true form since the
strange flesh that makes up their body seems to have some paranormal
qualities. For one thing shadows can grow or shrink at will, they can move
through objects as long as their is a small hole or crack somewhere to enter
and they even seem to be able to fly short distances, though that skill is
rumoured to be a consequence of being able to stretch. All that is certain
if the shadows is that they have faint grey-white glowing eyes that render
people immobile if they stare directly into them.
Personality: Shadows are flighty
creatures who prefer to run and live to fight another day than to make a
stand and die. It's save to say that most larger dragons do not have a use
for them since they are inedible (how would you start eating shadow?). The
only dragon who takes the trouble of catching them are the Dark magics since
Shadows make excellent servants and spies.
Shadows can be found all over the continent but mostly remain unseen for the
untrained eye, camouflaged as they are in the dark half of Lyria.

Lurin
Appearance:
Lurin dragons are dragons with a more distinct
humanoid look. They walk upright on two legs, don't have wings and
preferably go around the continent wearing clothes. Little is known about
where Lurin get their cloths, it might be they take them from humans but it
is equally likely that they make their own clothes in little swamp-settled
factories taking into consideration the small number of humans that actually
venture into the swamps. They seem to have a preference for green and brown
colours that fade in the swamp environment. This is not surprising
considering they only want to have the little firefly caught in their wands
to be visible for weary eyes.
Personality: Lurin dragons live to trick
humans. They mostly stay silent (even if bonded), preferring to communicate
with hand gestures. The wand they carry has a small orb on top in which they
keep fireflies. These tiny lights lure humans deeper into the swamp then
they should go, drawing them into danger, and of course make them excellent
prey, what's better than a nice chunk of human now and again?
