TheGameOfGo

I'm trying to learn the game of Go. This page lists some good places to start.

This is a wiki akin to the original WikiWiki for Go lore: discussion on strategy, Go terms, and much more:

This is a good starting point if you don't own any printed Go problem material:

In order to practice a bit, I bought the four "Graded Go Problems for Beginners" by Kano Yoshinori. They are all out of print, so you'll have to buy them 2nd hand just as I did. See BuyingBooksOnline for more info on how to do this.

If you want to play on a Windows machine, I suggest David Fotland's Many Faces of Go. This is a nice looking program. The 9x9 version is gratis.

If you are interested in alternatives, you can use Gnu Go, or you can play online on the No Name Go Server (NNGS). For both Gnu Go and NNGS you can use a graphical Go client. I use CGoban in both cases, for example. There are other Go servers as well, but I just use NNGS. No particular reason. It just worked, I guess. ^_^
