It's Been Awhile

It's been awhile now
Since I turned down this street
Still familiar somehow
Although the image is not complete

I'm no longer alone
Yet I can't help but be lost sometimes
Where is my path
It got away from me during the climb

I simply want to be whole
To find the road that calls for me
But it's down below, where I cannot go
My fear of heights overwhelms me...

It's been awhile now
Pride takes precedence over prayer
She urges me and He gently pushes me
Yet my feet remain perfectly still

If only I could let go
If only I could admit defeat
If only I could say "this is beyond me"
Maybe I'll step forward and take the fall
Or maybe familiar is all this will be

It's been awhile now...
