Buried Treasure

I'm treasuring it
Because it needs to be treasured
Carefully transferred from hand to hand
Caressed in a way that takes every breath
Because not one breath should go unused

I'm refining it
There's always reason to go a bit deeper
Sculpting with such care, edges softened to curves
Fully realizing there's so much more to learn
Because if I ever stop... the growing ceases

I'm waiting in it
As terrifying as it is, I allow it to expand
I didn't know the heart could find such depths
Diving further and further, swallowing any trace of fear
Because in this lonely place, something is transformed

I'm capturing it
Every ounce that soaks in the grief and joy
Squeezing it ever so slowly, feeling each drop fall
Each failure, each accomplishment, and every solace between
Because it feeds this soul and allows me to flourish

I'm treasuring it
Because all of this...deserves to be treasured.
