Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve cannot pass without me lingering on you
As if there's a night that goes by that I don't
My heart has a secret wish
Yet it's not so secret when it spills over
Revealing the desire to see your smile dancing
And your eyes reflecting the tenderness mine have for you

Memories play in constant rewind
We rewrote tradition, making it all our own
Mixing the past with the new
We found the fairytale for our family
Ornaments displayed, stockings filled
Even presents meant for both me and you

As my heart aches this very minute for you
I find hope for the future in Someone more powerful than Santa
I have the will within me to make it through
With the belief that one day I will make it to you

So wrap your heart in the comfort of mine
It burns for you and radiates the warmth you seek
It's a heat felt whether you're near or far
Because there's no stopping this beautiful love inside
Just like there's no stopping this Christmas Eve
And this Christmas Day
Two moments that must come and pass
For they bring me a moment closer to you.
