It All Intertwines

Oh baby, why are you so afraid
To believe in the things that I say
Is it so hard to have faith in me
That I've already searched for the truth
For the answers you seek
I wouldn't be laying my heart on the line
If I hadn't already figured out how it all intertwines

I see in you all your realities
I watched you change in front of me
And then when I was simply one of the crowd
The distance never kept me from being proud

The stubborn woman who refuses to be down long
When I watched you pick up a softball, my heart burst into song
The strong woman who still fights for her family
The faces have changed but not your loyalty

I'm not oblivious to who you are
There are things about you that are never far
You seem to forget I was the one closest to your heart
There are truths about you that will never part

But yes, there are things I don't know
I want to learn, if you only give us a chance to grow
I miss hearing the secret corners you keep
Being your best friend, allowed in so deep

Underneath it all, there's something you must know
It's you...not an image...that makes my heart overflow
Darling, you're going to change with each passing year
And if my love changed with you, there's no reason I should be here
What you're seeing in me is called unconditional love
This love doesn't come from me, it comes from above
A love that doesn't weaken with the changing of seasons
It's this love that is my one true reason.
