You can force me out
You can ask me to stop saying the words
You can keep me at a distance
I won't leave you

But I refuse to disrespect you
By trying to force my way back in
You can remove me from your world
And I will cease to know about your day
Your dreams, your thoughts and your feelings
But nothing will be lost
When my heart knows yours the way it does
But you can never keep me from feeling them
From allowing this love to vibrate through my veins
You can leave me alone here
And I will take the time to grow in myself and love
Every moment spent will be worth it when this chapter ends
And I'll rest in the fact I know you won't be alone
When I ask God to take care of you every day I'm away
And I will wait patiently outside these walls
Until they begin to crumble when the earth quakes
And your hand reaches through to pull me in
You can do this and so much more
But I won't run away from you
Even though I realize you expect me to
Maybe one day you'll see this truth with crystal clear eyes
And it will be something you'll be happy to get used to
That I'm not the person from your past
Or the one from your present
Who makes you believe you are not worth sticking around for
I believed it six years ago, I believe it now – you're worth it
That belief isn't going anywhere and neither am I
I said it once and I will say it again:
I won't leave you.
