Layers to This

You're showing me another layer
A step further into the depth of this
This love You reveal truly astounds me
And I wonder if I could ever get as close to it

How is it that You can love so completely, Lord
Even when I don't feel worthy, nowhere near worthy
That emptiness that once consumed me
You smiled and You just knew together we would break through

This heart is so thankful, so thankful
Because You took me and refined every corner
I feel beautiful again but what's amazing is that You always saw
The beauty that had never really disappeared

How can I express just how I long to love like You
I believe if I listen a little harder, if I follow a little longer
If I take one step and another into each chapter You have ahead
Maybe one day I will be able to come one-tenth close to the love that flows
Endlessly, passionately, tenderly, and in an all-consuming manner
A beautiful portrait of devotion in motion for all time.
