Life with You

It's the laughter that greets me
When I goofily dance over to your arms
It's the hands that hold me tenderly
I fall into you and every measure of your charm

It's the determination on your face
As you beat down the bad guys in yet another game
It's the way I watch you play and race
Content in this simple act, a way I know I'll never be the same

It's your stubborn pride, your need to always be right
Even when I want to shake you, I can't help but smile at that pout
It's the shy expression when apologizing after a fight
The way I wrap you up in my arms and push away the doubt

It's the happy murmur in my ear as I stir the spaghetti sauce
The constant appreciation for the little things I do
It's the way you wash the dishes and reach across
Before I get away to cover me in kisses, all bright, shiny and new

It's the listening ear after a hard day's work
Never interrupting and letting me rant to my little heart's content
And after I finish, it's the little indulgences and quirks
The way you'll massage away the tension till I'm utterly spent

It's the arm that circles my waist when I cuddle in for the night
The rub of your nose and the softness of your lips that make the day worth it
It's the breath in my hair, deepening as it falls into sleep
It's the hopes, the fears, and the promises that we keep

It's the knowledge that in the morning you'll awaken me
And the day will start all over again
But each day's a new beginning, a continuation of this joy
Life with you, something beautiful and true
And something I'll never get used to.
