Precious Gift from God

For my girl, my doggie, Penny. I hope you notice all your nicknames thrown in there...because every single one of them were true. I miss you more than you could know, Penny. I love you.

Beautiful sunshine
You lit up the room every single time
With that puppy smile of yours
I couldn't help but cheer at your arrival

Now you've departed
To become a precious gift for God
And while my heart is breaking
You will always be the treasure inside it
Keep it safe and help it to heal
Because you were always the light in the dark
The sunshine of my life

Get a few cuddles from Grammy
And maybe believe they're from me for a moment
Because if I could hold you, I would
And provide a place for your head to rest

Don't forget to chase those rabbits
And ask for some prime rib and water to wash it down
You'll get everything you could ever wish for
And one day I will walk in and you'll get that wish too

Until then, be that gorgeous ray of heavenly light
Because it appears they couldn't go another day without you
And oh Penny, please know you will always be my girl
No other could possibly replace you
My heart aches for the day I see you again
So you can lick away the tears of grief to be replaced with tears of joy
And we can run and play and be together forever.
