Remember the Way

I can remember the way your voice echoes
How it’s like the single, sweetest caress
How it dipped into its dulcet tones
A quiet reminder you’re the queen on my throne

I can remember the way your hands explored
Crevices and corners previously undiscovered
Made beautiful by gentleness beyond measure
It’s the only time in my life I’ve ever felt like a treasure

I can remember the way your lips curved higher
A feeling that this smile was simply reserved for me
Its soft entrance always captured my heart
So much I wanted to lean in and capture those lips apart

I can remember the way your heart lay open, unchecked, undone
Something so precious, so real, it can’t be gone
And I remember opening my own in silent surrender
Trembling in hope that you’d find in that action beauty and splendor

I can remember the taste of something beyond words
A promise of Heaven, somewhere beyond this time
And I get caught up in these memories divine
Hoping that maybe someday, somehow you’ll once again be mine.
