Shine

It's taking a step forward
In the face of uncertainty
It's embracing the unknown
Hoping there's a happy ending

It's blocking out the voices
The demons haunting your past
It's facing them when you're ready
And not a single moment sooner

It's listening to your heart
When it's so difficult to hear
It's trusting that inner voice
Even though it guides where you fear

It's allowing yourself happiness
Because you deserve so much and more
It's admitting how you feel
Whether between the lines or straightforward

It's drawing courage from another source
While you gather up the will for your own
It's parading on when you want to sit this one out
In order to find where you belong

It's when the voices say you're weak
And you tell them to shut the hell up
It's then you draw upon that inner strength
It's then that you take the power back
And reveal what's been hiding below
Just waiting for a moment to shine

And oh, how you shine
How beautiful you are
So precious to the touch

No wonder the voices try to drown you
When your heart cries out
Because they know the truth, the beauty
That it is in your "weakness," your strength emerges
And you shine, shine, shine.
