Where I Belong

Before you
I lacked something real inside-
Always felt I was on a rollercoaster ride
Beginning with nothing more than a hope or a dream
And ending with a reality that wasn’t all it seemed.
Constantly wishing I’d find forever in their eyes
When with the sunrise, “forever” would die.

One can grow weary in this quest
If they don’t allow themselves a moment of rest.
As determined as I may have been,
I knew this wasn’t going to be a battle I’d win.
So, I laid aside my desire, my need
And focused on the life I wanted to lead.

That’s when you entered my life-
Not to sounds of fanfare or chords of strife-
But to a simple, sweet melody that lifted me high
And gave my soul a reason to sigh.
For from the moment you spoke, it recognized your voice
As for falling in love with you -- there was really no choice.

For in you,
I found the harmony to my heart
Someone with whom I never want to part
The laughter I crave on a cloudy day
The listening ear for the words I don’t say
The arms to hold me tight when my tears sting
The smile that gives me hope for what tomorrow may bring.

I’ve found a friendship that’s of the best kind-
One that challenges my heart and my mind;
An unconditional love that never ceases to inspire me
One that always brings me to my knees
In humble thanks to the One for this amazing blessing
For His mysterious ways which always keep me guessing.

Can’t you see just what I’m trying to say-
That you’ve just got a way?
For I’ve found what was missing for oh so long-
It’s in your eyes, in your kiss, in the love that makes me strong.
And it’s in this truth that makes this love so sweet:
I am finally complete...
For I belong to you
And you...you belong to me.
