Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child: A Practical Reference to Natural and Conventional Treatments for Infants and Children Zand, Janet; Walton, Rachel; and Rountree, Bob; Avery Publishing Group, 1994.
The format of Smart Medicine is by symptom; it gives nutritional
support,
herbal treatments, and homeopathic treatments, in addition to standard
medical recommentdations and comfort measures with a description of each
illness. The part that I found the most helpful, though, is that it
gives
normal dosages and theraputic dosages, by age and weight, for vitamins,
minerals, herbs, etc. Information you are unlikely to find in any other
source!

Take Charge of Your Child's Health: A Guide to Recognizing Symptoms and Treating Minor Illnesses at Home George Wootan, M. D. and Sarah Verney, Crown Publishing Inc, NY 1992
This book is more a philosophy of why and how a parent can be the one
to
best monitor a child's health, by knowing your child's own "baseline"
and
doing routine observations of your child. Then it goes into some of the
typical minor illnesses, by body area, i.e. chest, head, extremities,
etc.,
giving a full blown rationale for a low-tech-intervention style of
treatment. Also goes into vaccinations, and how to distinguish a
serious
illness from a minor illness.
