Do your children play with paper dolls? I have found a great product: "Forever Friends" felt dolls. These are "paper" dolls made of felt. They will stick on the back of a couch or car seat, and they are washable. A number of different dolls, both girls and boys, with their own outfits are available. Store them in zip lock bags. Here are a few helpful words of advice from the book Let's Bring Them Up Sensibly by Mae Carden. (1)
Cultivate (in your child):
An obliging quality which is the willingness to do for others when the need
is obvious or the request is made;
A genial attitude which creates a pleasantness in social relationships;
A sunny quality which brings radiance into the atmosphere;
An optimistic viewpoint which is a healthy attitude toward events and life;
Generosity of spirit and of material things. Try frequently to have the child
develop the impulse to give. If the child has a willingness to give, rejoice.
Help him to acquire:
An ability to express a difference of opinion with causing enmity;
The technique of asking questions instead of making brusque remarks;
The courtesy to be a sincerely good listener because of a feeling of empathy
and a good sense of humor;
Cordiality toward all persons with whom he comes in contact.
An accumulation of these qualities will produce a person who will be considered charming and a friend of man.
