Kimono Source Company Information

The Kimono Source Web site was started in 2002 by Junko Hashimoto Nannen, a resident of Arlington, Massachusetts, and a native of Japan.our tanuki Junko is an ardent collector of traditional Japanese clothing, and loves using the pieces of clothing and material as interior décor or in special crafts projects. Junko also teaches Japanese to kindergarten students at a Japanese language school in Medford, Massachusetts.

The official name of the small company (family-run business) that operates kimonosource.com is Tanuki Goods. What is a tanuki? Well, a tanuki is a mammal that is native to Japan, and is about the size of a small- to medium-sized dog. It looks something like the raccoon of North America, but with fewer stripes and other markings. The tanuki has a prominent and colorful place in Japanese folklore, and is a bit on the mischievous side. All over Japan, there are ceramic statues of the tanuki, who typically carries a sack or briefcase in one hand and a jug of Japanese rice wine in the other. We hope that the tanuki brings us good luck and a spirit of fun in our business. Thank you for visiting our site! We sincerely hope that you enjoy our products and information, and welcome any comments. Feel free to reach us on the Web at info@kimonosource.com or by mail at:
