Curriculum & Tuition
Here are the
styles of dance classes offered by Mrs. Kim:
Creative Dance (i.e. toddler dance time,and kid's dance time.)(pre-ballet) Mom & Preschoolers (2) to age 7. These classes teach basic rhythmic movement, also alignment, coordination games and group participation. Some basic ballet movement is taught!
Through play (using props) children learn different dance movements while having fun. Parent(s)/adult(s) are incouraged to dance with your child.
Ballet For
Ages Preschool Through Adult. (Cecchetti and Vaganova
method.)
All ballet students (ages 8-adult) are requested to buy this book: Basic Ballet, The Steps Defined by Joyce Mackie.
Ballet 1 - Ballet 1 - Students ages 8-adult.
Learning and enforcing the basics and focusing on the muscular development necessary to execute classical ballet movements.
Ballet 2 & 3- Students ages 8- adult.
Go beyond the basic movements learned in ballet one and begin the study of the 7 movements of dance and the 8 positions of the body..
A focus on increased center floor work, particularly in the area of petite allegro, grande allegro, pirouettes, attitude, and standing on retiré passé. Thus preparing girls for Pointe and boys for the study of partnering.
Ballet 4,5,& 6- Students ages 12 - adults. (Flat and/or Pointe shoe class) Private coaching by appointment only.
Students will be given an evaluation (graded) on their technique. Fine tuning proper alignment, and execution of steps. A higher level of intensive ballet training at the barre, center, and floor are taught.
Tap For Ages 3 Through
Adults.
Tap 1st & 2nd year Students: Ages Preschool 3- adults.
Learn the basic to advacned steps in tap dancing from the time step, shuffles, flaps, toe behind, digs, hops, jumps/leaps, cramp roll, cake walk, maxi four, waltz clog, shim-sham, grapevine, drawbacks, pull backs, riffs, soft shoe, toe stands, and many other combinations.
Moving freely for ages 8-up.
Movement of the arms,legs, and body. Free flowing contemporary style compared to that of formal ballet style. Using different types of uplifting music. One year of previous ballet training is recomended but, not required.
Praise Dance for ages 8 - Adults. Liturgical is spiritual dance. Another contempory style that uses modern and ballet moves. Started by slaves in African Amreican churches during the slave movement. Now used by all christian faiths. Its a way to express the soul through the body. Mostly danced with christian hymns, wearing white dresses or a white unitard. A beautiful dance style. (Some Ballet training is desired, to be in this class.)
