Found frozen beneath Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Chill was one of the first mutants Magnus had laid eyes on before he became the master of magnetism. After being caught feeding some of the prisoners of the camp, soldiers placed her and her group before the firing line as an example. Unfortunately for them, she just wouldn't go down that easily. Instead, she froze the bullets aimed at her, and even froze/shattered one of the guards closest to her. After being knocked unconscious, she was taken to "Block 10", where several experiments were done on her powers and body, including the removal of all her reproductive organs. She was one of only two subjects to be frozen for later study (but the only one to survive), in a project that was to make her an enhanced assassin, before the nazis were defeated.

When TC freed her from her icy prison, her lips had been permanently turned blue. The results of her past treatment caused her to become unhealthily attached to TC (who deals with it the best she can, given the language barrier), and for her to revere all males in high disgust. As a taunting gesture towards all men, she took to dressing in the Gothic Lolita fashion, after seeing images of it in a magazine belonging to one of the school's students. Now that she is unfrozen, she would resume aging as if nothing had happened, despite being ten years Magnus' elder. (An added bit of irony to the Lolita look, one would say.)
