Disclaimers: Joss owns them
not me. No harm intended, and please, as if we COULD make money off fanfic!
*Whispers* We can't, can we?
Timeline: Faith never went
bad and Slayers under the age of 21 can gamble in Vegas. Just work with me
here!
Comments: Not Beta'd yet,
I'll revise it when I can be bothered. Feel free to point out any errors.
This features one of those Spooky/weird dream sequences that Joss loves so
much. The dream is made up of almost perfect lines from 'Celebrate You' by
Veruca Salt, in response to a challenge to get it in a fic by TheSpanner.
You'll understand it more when season 3/4 hits on your network and you see
the odd dream sequences!
Faith's POV
Slayers Do Vegas
XI - Dream Sequences Make the World Go Round
Ok, I know I'm dreaming.
It's like I'm watching me and B on TV.
Wow, this is weird.
B looks at me... well the other me and starts
to talk stuff that wouldn't even make sense in SunnyHell.
'You know Faith, We're quiet as two mannequins...'
'Best way for us to be, Buffy.'
Hold up, rewind, I never call her Buffy!
This continuity sucks.
'Faith in my dream you held a gun. You killed
off all who hurt you. But you left me standing there?'
'You're the only one who wouldn't dare desert
me, B.'
That's better.
B.
Glad I have some kind of control over this dream.
'I wouldn't, but you know that don't you? I read it in your diary.'
'I lost my innocence that day, B, when I
learned how to write that.'
'Faith, I'll never know just what I've got,
not until you tell me.'
Right, that's it, wake up time!
I ain't listening to this anymore.
Wake up, Faith!
Wake up!
My eyes fly open and I feel someone right up
close to my face.
SHIT!
I punch whatever the hell it is, hard.
I roll off the bed and quickly switch the light on.
How'd a demon get in here?
My eyes adjust to the sudden light slowly,
and then I see B on the floor, holding her face.
'Shit, B? I'm sorry! What the hell were you
doin' on me, anyway?'
I kneel down next to her and look at the quickly
forming bruise.
Shit!
'You were having a nightmare or something,
I was trying to wake you up. At least I'll get a bruise that matches the one
on my neck now.'
She laughs, but it ain't funny.
Well it ain't funny to me.
Can I do anything without screwing things up?
I help her up onto her bed, and look at her
face.
'Shit, B... don't you know not to wake people
up when they're dreaming?'
'I do now, thanks for the lesson.'
'I'll get you some ice for that.'
I grab the ice bucket and head out to the machine in the hall.
Lucky I decided to wear a T and some shorts for bed.
Jeez, a naked me standing over B?
That thought makes my toes curl!
I get back with a full bucket of ice and grab
a small towel from the bathroom.
I make her up a little pack for her face.
She winces as I put it on her face.
Can see her try not to, but I think she's too tired to hide it properly.
'Here ya go. Lie down and keep it on your face
for 10 minutes, should take the swelling down.'
I start to get up, but I feel her hand on my
thigh.
Her warm, soft hand.
Right, stop thinking like that, right now!
'I'm sorry about the diary thing, Faith.'
She looks up at me and I can see tears in her
eyes.
I don't know if they're from me punching her or what she just said.
Don't think it matters all that much though, they're still there.
And I made them.
Fuck it!
'Look, you didn't read anything bad, so...
you know, no biggie.'
I don't know what I would've done if she'd
read on a few more days.
Shit, that would've screwed everything up real good.
I knew I should've left it back at my place!
'Still... I'm sorry.'
'I know, we'll just forget about it, you know,
pretend it never happened. 'though by the looks of your neck it ain't gonna
be to easy. God, I'm such an idiot! I just flew off the handle, B. I didn't
mean to do that.'
I touch a finger to the red marks on her neck,
where I'd pulled her collar into the flesh.
I feel her forehead rest against mine, she sighs.
My eyes close, I don't want to see her so near to me.
Too much temptation.
'Go to sleep, B. I'll shout you breakfast tomorrow
as a peace offering. 'k?'
As I open my eyes I see the most beautiful
green ones, looking back at me.
God, listen to me getting all sappy!
It sounds shit, but it's true.
I could sit and look at those eyes all day long.
The silence stretches out, before she finally
breaks it.
'Pancakes, eggs, bacon AND a milkshake?'
'Hey, I don't feel THAT guilty!'
She smiles and slips back into bed, I tuck
her in, stopping the urge to kiss her forehead.
'Goodnight Faith.'
'Night B.'
I switch the light off get back into bed and hope for dreamless sleep.
