House Finch

This is one of the commonest finches on BC’s West Coast.  Its crown is brownish red, with solid red around the forehead and temples and some red on their upper chest.  The songs are variable, mostly in three notes at a high stringent pitch.  Their calls are high pitched and sharp, with uncharacteristic chips and chirps, and occasional whistles.  They exchange their calls constantly with each other.
