Ya! Kamal U r right that the names of the wives
of the male members is sung like that only .
Can I ask u something ?Is it possible that rules
of singing Shakunakhar may not be same in all regions of kumaun. I don't
know ....but I've always heard names of my Taiji, Mummy and Chachiji in
the Shakunakhar.( You said they don't take names of ladies).I may be wrong
entirely.Please clear my doubts.
" Sakunaakhar" is a general word which describes the type of songs. For different occasion we have different
sakunaakhar songs . Like for kanyadan,widai,Nam-kand we have different songs .I will give you some examples also but the song which we have discussed is must for every occasion .So its a common song for all the occasions.
Yes sikha ..It may happen ...please refer my first line of the mail "The tradition itself defines lot of things , undocumented ...." ..It clearly says that there are no documented rules as such regarding any sakunakhar song . It is being transferred orally to different generations .So it may happen that there is some difference in singing of Sakunakhar depending upon the region ...but as per my experience (A small one ) I didn't find any difference with respect to the song we have discussed .

Yes you are right ..you must have heard the names ....as names of married ladies come in the song (and I have said that only) but what I meant to say that names are called out by husband's name . In some cases names are changed as per the creativity of the singing group..like kamal's wife may become kamla sundaree but Pooran's wife can not become Poorana sundaree..so in that case it is changed to Prema sundaree and in case of Harish it is changed to Hema or any other name ...but that may differ ...
(I m wondering how they will call the wife of Ashutosh :-) )
Regarding girls name I said "I think the names of unmarried girls do not come in this "..I m not very sure ..but I have witnessed it...
Kamal
U were talking of the Gidar concept.Yes! the underlying concept is
we have a set of old ladies who use to sing the Shagun-Akhars(as U have
said). I have seen in marriages. These ladies r given some gift for singing
the Shagun-Geet. It is in the form of money , saree or nariyal etc.
