BS Accounting

- A very good course to take. Gives the graduate many options.         

 - A graduate  is automatically qualified as a book keeper. All companies need book keepers to keep track of their expenses and earnings.        

 - If an accounting graduate passes the Accounting Board Exams, they become CPA or Certified Public Accountants. A CPA gets higher pay than book keepers. Besides a book keeper, companies also need CPAs to certify their tax declarations.         

 - Accounting is also a good pre Law course if you plan to be a lawyer. You can be a CPA Lawyer.

BS Economics

Economists study the movement of the economy.  The economy is very sensitive. A small change in interest rate or demand of money or supply, etc. will have a drastic effect on the other factors. Economists implement plans or policies to lessen the bad effects of these changes in market forces.               

Economists can work in banks where they determine the interest rates or other bank policies. They can also work in private companies or the government  agency (National Economic Development Authority <NEDA>).  

BS Management/ Business Administration/ Commerce

Be careful in taking this course. It is a very general course. Make sure that you have a major, either Accounting or Advertising. A great number of those who take Commerce as their course end up as sales men. It is not bad but it is better is you will have a field of specialization.

BS Computer Science

Graduates  become Computer Programmers. Programmers design software like Windows 98 and Microsoft Word. These are general applications but most companies have different specific software application needs. And since everything around us is becoming computerized, the demand for programmers is very high.                      

BS Electrical and Communications Engineer (ECE)

- ECE graduates can work in a Telecommunications Company. EC Engineers job is to make sure that phone companies deliver the right service. No over subscription. No congested lines. They decide the number of cell sites, etc. In short, they make sure that we can communicate when we need it, where we need it.              

 - They can also work in TV and Radio stations. They make sure that ABS-CBN is viewed on channel 2 and GMA-7 is viewed on channel 7.         

BS Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineers are responsible for making sure machines work properly. How much horsepower is needed by the engine of a van as compared to a regular car. Or how much energy can a power plant produce. Mechanical Engineers usually work in appliances factory or power & electric companies.

BS  PSYCHOLOGY

Psychology is a good course to take.  The course is about the ways of understanding and dealing with people, different kinds of people. This will help you a lot in your life. Also, psychologists' job usually  become HRD personnel or Human Resources Division in companies. HRD is responsible for hiring, training and dealing with the company's personnel. Psychology students are trained to how to conduct job interviews so they also learn how to respond when they are interviewed for a job.

Psychology is also a good pre-Med course if you are planning to be Doctor.  Just remember to take some Science subjects needed to qualify as pre-Med.                      

BS CHEMISTRY

- Can work in a Pharmaceutical Company and be part of a team that creates new medicine for incurable diseases.

 - Can work in a Police or Investigative Bureau as a Forensic Expert who tests hair samples, DNAs, etc.

 - Can work in Cosmetics Companies formulating high quality  beauty and hygiene products.

 - Can work in Chemical Factories like Paint Factories.

 - Can work in Schools as a Chemistry teacher and help mold the nation's future.

BA MASS COMMUNICATION

There are lots of possibilities in Mass Media. You can work in front of the camera or behind it. You can work as a production crew or assistant and work your way up to become a producer.             

You can work in news paper, radio, television, movies and even in the Internet.          

One caution, however, would be that this kind of  job is quite unstable. You have to learn to mingle with all sorts of people and establish a strong credibility to be able to move on.     

Just like Fine Arts or Music, talent and creativity (and sometimes looks) is more important than degrees and diploma
