"RATIONALE and EVALUATION"

The growing number of Filipinos contented with being household helpers, both here and abroad, was the primary reason why AIDCO conceived of the project “Alay sa Kasambahay”. We hoped to educate and inspire Filipinos about better opportunities still available for them.

With the Help of CWS cadets from UP, AIDCO conducted tutorial classes at the Pigeon Area of Luneta. The main task of the cadets was to share their knowledge to the interested participants. In addition, it was also the cadets who made the effort to look for people who would be interested in the said classes.

The tutorial sessions eventually drew popular support. Even from unexpected parties who offered support and even kind words of encouragement. The cadets, on the other hand, totally surpassed our expectations. They showed unparalleled support, fire and enthusiasm. Most of them did what they had to do with great gusto. And some of them even went out of their way to do the things that they thought would help the project on their own initiative.

The result of the project totally exceeded our expectations. And though we realized that a few weeks was not enough to teach what was supposed to be thought in the many years of schooling, we felt that it was enough to touch some hearts and stir some imagination. Through this mini experiment we discovered that there is still hope for our country. That people are really willing to fight poverty, some just don’t know how. Together let’s help show them HOW.
