A little history: Isa's first pug, Piggy, was stolen from her when she was a mere teenager. And YES, it hurts like hell! Mom was worried about my depression then and for that subsequent 2 years, we didn't own/want any dogs. Sad to say, I feel guilty at times as I have no pictures nor have taken Piggy for any outings back then. All I have is just some fond memories of him. Then, I lost my faith and couldn't bring myself to have any personal emotions when it comes to other dogs in the family in later years. Miraculously, that painful void was filled by Akiku and his magnetism.
Akiku has a much stronger personality than Piggy and naturally, if you can understand my loss over Piggy, I spoil him rotten, much to everyone's annoyance. He does not have much discipline to speak of as it is my intention to let him be as the way he wishes but of cos, he's house-trained.
Unusal Traits:
Unlike Piggy, Akiku is more of a coward who doesn't dare to get the door by himself and always leave the kitties alone whenever I take him out. He loves to play 'catching' or 'hide-n-seek' and each session can lasts for about 2 hours before he gets tired. Akiku also loves to meet other dogs and he has no fears for ferocious breeds like Pit Bulls etc. In addition, I have noticed that Akiku actually can recognizes his buddies' names!
Akiku's Diet and Favourite Food/Snacks:
Usual Diet:
Cooked rice with beef/chicken/pork with vegetables (usually carrots) Dog biscuits with eggs and vegetables (if any) - He is not fond of this but will usually oblige when we are on a trip. Fruits (all except bananas, oh and it has to be peeled grapes) Special Treats:
Seafood! What else? He loves prawns, abalone, scallops and fish. I discovered this when he was about 2 months old. It was winter. My friend and I were having 'Steamboat' for dinner at a restaurant. Akiku was snoring away in my coat jacket (he was that tiny) and he struggled to reveal his fist-sized head as I was peeling a prawn later. To prevent him from seeking unfavorable attention from the waitresses, I offered the prawn to him and he nearly chomped off my finger!
Other stuff which he likes:
Ice, Ice cream and Ice water - he lives for these in summer Sweets (especially fishermen's) - I think he digs it cos they kinda clear up his nasal Chocolates - I stopped feeding him these when I learnt that they are actually harmful to his health and teeth. However, he always manages to beg for some from my Mom, a chocolate freak, when she is in town. Doggie Treats - yah, he's smart you know? He only wants the 'milk-bone' now ... more favours I suppose?
