Fawn: Pale golden fawn to deep golden fawn. Black mask desired. Small white marks on chest and toes not desirable. White muzzle or blaze is a disqualification. Brindle: Basic color pale golden fawn to deep golden fawn with black stripes running out in direction of ribs. The markings must be as clear and regular as possible. Black mask desired. White muzzle or blaze on a non-mantle is a disqualification. Mantle: Black covers the body like a blanket but throat, chest, belly, legs and tip of tail are white. Skull is black, except for white muzzle and optional white blaze. Small break in blanket or white collar permitted. Sometimes called Boston. Merle: Basic color steel blue. Jet black, irregular, well broken patches well distributed on the whole body. Sometimes called Blue Merle. Merle Mantle: Merle pattern (as above) covers the body like a blanket but throat, chest, belly, legs and tip of tail are white. Skull is merle, except for white muzzle and optional white blaze. Small break in blanket or white collar permitted. Harlequin: Basic color pure white, as far as possible without any ticking. Jet black, irregular, well broken patches well distributed on the whole body. May or may not have a pure white neck. Gray or brownish patches not desired. Blue: Clear steel blue, white markings on chest and feet permitted. White muzzle or blaze on a non-mantle is a disqualification. Blue Mantle: Blue covers the body like a blanket but throat, chest, belly, legs and tip of tail are white. Skull is blue, except for white muzzle and optional white blaze. Small break in blanket or white collar permitted. Sometimes called Boston. Blue Harlequin: Basic color pure white, as far as possible without any ticking. Blue, irregular, well broken patches well distributed on the whole body. May or may not have a pure white neck. Sometimes called Bluequin. Any Great Dane which does not fall within the above color classifications must be disqualified. |
