Alternate Personalities Quake 1 blunderbuss  blun·der·buss (blun'der-bus')

Noun

1. A short musket with a wide muzzle, formerly used to scatter shot at close range.

2. A stupid, clumsy person.

Etymology:  Dutch donderbus.

 

The Internet seems to breed alternate personalities, in me.

Player names, nicknames, handles, and e-mail accounts all make easy routes by which to slip into virtual personalities.

 

Leyrider is but one of the nicknames I use when on-line.

In 3D Internet games I usually go as Blunderbusss.

 

I just noticed that Blunderbuss is also synominous with 'a stupid, clumsy person.'

Hmmmm. Fitting, I guess. He's clumsy since I don't use a mouse to play.

 

Fatally blunder into gunfights Blunderbuss does too - all too often.

Can be stupid - is usually fun and can reward him with a launcher and 99 rockets!

 

He blunders, he's clumsy, but beware when the buss swings yer way.

 

 

HAVEN'T TRIED PLAYING QUAKE ON THE INTERNET ?

GO THRU THE PROCESS AND MENUS AS FOLLOWS:

 

RUN Q95.BAT FROM YOUR QUAKE DIRECTORY AND ONCE QUAKE HAS STARTED

JOIN A MULTIPLAYER GAME.

SELECT TCP/IP, AND THEN TYPE AN ADDRESS

SAY, QUAKE.WXS.NL  - THAT'S AN EXAMPLE OF ONE I SOMETIMES PLAY ON.

"WXS" ARE THE INITIALS OF AN  INTERNET PROVIDER - WORLD ACCESS.

THE "NL" TAG AT THE END SAYS THE SERVER IS LOCATED IN THE NETHERLANDS.  

BUT CHECK  YOUR OWN SERVER OUT FIRST - IT'S THE FASTEST - AND THAT'S WHAT COUNTS.

THERE SHOULD BE SOME INFORMATION ON YOUR PROVIDER'S HOMEPAGE ABOUT 3D INTERENT GAMING.

QAKE.{MY PROVIDER}.COM

 

IT MAY TAKE SOME TRIAL AND ERROR, BUT ONCE YOU'RE PLAYING IT'S A GOOD LAUGH.

Entropy  

 Zonko, Gorlog, and Redwind are

three of my favorite alternate personalities.

They were conceived in a multi-user dungeon

[MUD] on the Internet. A challenging world called Entropy.

 

One's a hot-blooded giant; Gorlog is a goblin necromancer.

Redwind is a fiery centaur with a liking for lightning.
